Hashirama wins. He's not gonna fall to uchiha genjutsu of any type or get one shotted by any mangekyou technique, not when his whole life except for about 5 minutes starting the leaf village was spent fighting uchihas especially madara. Even part 1 shitty-edo hashirama was able to summon a massive amount of trees, if he did that around itachi it would force him to susanoo just to not get squeezed to death. Even if itachi opted to just katon everything he'd run out of chakra since edo-hashi has infinite chakra and itachi doesn't. Plus Hashi would be using wood clones and shit to keep itachi from hitting him with whatever he planned like totsuka blade.

Seriously it's far from the first time Hashi has fought mangekyou users, give him some credit.

It's a Genjutsu; if you think Itachi, the strongest Genjutsu user in the series, is falling for Genjutsu, then I truly hope the demons possessing you release their hold. He'd break out of it via Kai release.

Bringer of Darkness is a genjutsu that affects the eyesight, the Sharingan naturally counters that kind of genjutsu. Arguing against this is arguing against the manga.
The only type of genjutsu that can bypass the Sharingan's prowess is the one that affects the hearing. Part 1 Hashirama doesn't fit the requirements to beat even part 1 Itachi, let alone the Itachi we saw during Shippuden.

I agree that it wouldn't be much of a fight though. Itachi would make Hashirama is sexual slave w/o having to resort to his MS ._.
