Just because the average Uchiha fan didn't even attempt to understand Obito as a character doesn't mean he's bad lol

Has far more development, psychological unravelling and panel depth than even Pain (another great villain)

Obito is a better villain than Pain. Pain has cooler powers. But Obito can't be hit.

Nah, as much as I like Pain, Obito is the best. Maybe not so well during the War Arc tho.

Tobi was a good villain until he was unmasked

For the average NB user though, better = 'cooler'

Are you sure? Cos that'll mean Obito is the best villain. #coolestguy
OT: I'd agree with you but then both of them changed their stance cos of trivial things. So they are about equal in my books.

Pain is a better villain than everyone...but then you have to count Pain as Pain without Nagato.

Though then you can use the same logic and say that Obito as Tobi is the best villain so...

I have to agree with him on that though. Itachi has two layers about him, that being that he's been faking everything in the eight years preceding his death and that he's an absolute genius. Sure there are minor things here and there, but people give him far more credit than he is worth.

Kabuto though...he is actually complicated.

Nah. there is nothing complicated about kabuto. if there was, it was completed rushed for the sake of ending the manga at 700

Well, Kabuto's character was built before the pacing of the manga started getting ridiculous, but yeah, I still think there's a lot about him.

Pain was the better character ultimately because they both fulfilled two different roles.

Pain relentlessly sparked the development of Naruto's ideology and maturity which enabled Naruto to further empathize with others and gain a full understanding about the truth of the entire world while Obito's role was more akin to a test where he constantly challenged Naruto's own conviction and tenacious personality. There's nothing inherently wrong with the villains when analyzing what they contributed towards the manga IMO, but Pain's role was simply more influential for Naruto as a whole due to advancing Naruto's greater understanding of hatred and the shinobi world and most importantly, the greater empathy he experienced while reflecting upon his relationship with Sasuke.
