Gai is stronger than 6pop because he appeared within like the last 25 chapters fighting one of the top 3 strongest characters in the entire series, on even ground, and was even able to blindside that character who was able to react to lightning fast speeds like FTG.

Meanwhile Pein couldn't even react to Sage Mode Naruto.

Yeah he can absorb chakra, but that doesn't automatically soften the impact. Anybody who thinks so is a moron and also believes that they can absorb shooting star Rasenshuriken and take no damage just because 'hurr preta path hurr'. They'll still have to deal with the physical blow that comes with it. And that's assuming they can even react to it. And when we all know that Juubi jin Madara with 1 eye has superior reaction and striking speed of Pain, we know he can't react to it.

No, he wouldn't. They were already in progress of hunting down Nagato without Naruto, and he was on the very verge of death after that Chibaku Tensei. He would need time to rest and regenerate stamina.

Pain's weakness is taijustu, the only path that can fend against it is Asura path and Deva path.

Gai's overwhelming strength with just six gates would break Asura path since he killed someone with it.

Only path is deva, but with the leaf's tactician Kakashi can take on deva with Gai and sm naruto.

So ya, if Gai was there the fight would of ended a lot differently

I agreed with most things you said until you mentioned Gai only surpassed Kakashi only by activating the 8th gate.
Are you really that thick? Kakashi could barely keep up with Rock Lee during the Chunin Exams, and had to resort to the Sharingan, which in that turn didn't affect much besides the basic Sharingan tracking muscle movement.

Gai in any gate over 5th rekts Kakashi so bad, I honestly sometimes don't think he even needs it. Kakashi beats Gai overall with ninjutsu, tactical prowess, but without his Sharingan he gets owned by Gai.

Kakashi said he let himself go so he wasn't at the best he could be plus I'm sure he could see without the Sharingan but was copying Lee's taijutsu as helps train Sasuke in Lee's style and you can't expect him to teach Sasuke something he doesn't know himself right? Also he took out the Sharingan before Lee went 5th gate, he took it out after learning Lee can use the gates so he wanted to see Lee's chakra

and we know Lee had the first gate open when Kakashi took out his Sharingan so he probably seen how Lee was opening the other gates. Kakashi is a lot stronger than part 1 Kakashi, 4 Raikiri made part 1 Kakashi chakra goes to 0 where as Part 2 Kakashi used earth wall, Raikiri, Raikiri, lightning clone, Raikiri wolf, Raikiri plus was using the Sharingan and that's half his chakra reserve right there

Gai had to go 6th gate to fight a 70% Kisame clone then 7th gate to fight a weakened Kisame who didn't have Samehada, that's him fighting a Kage level ninja mind you. Kakashi can use the MS to better his vision as well. Kakashi beats Gai in mostly with his smarts as he's the one who was calling shots when they fought together. Kakashi can go underground and have a lightning clone pop up so when Gai hits him he'll be shocked and paralyzed which leaves Kakashi the chance to kill Gai with Raikiri or Kamui. He can use hidden mist too. Even without the Sharingan he can still go underground and switch with a lightning clone, his speed is fast and he shown to use the 1st gate as well.
