Pain is better than Nagato

Why? Because Pain are 6 and immortal, so in close combat, Pain could overwhelm his ennemies. Not even mentioning the fact that they have Rinnengan Share vision, so they are more likely to see and avoid attacks than Nagato.

Nagato is greatly vulnerable when he fights alone, and that's why things like this could happen. He could not even handle Hanzo and got his feet destroyed by his katon attacks:

He then used Gedo Mazo for nothing since Hanzo escaped from it with a shunshin no jutsu:

So at the end, Nagato was crippled, when Hanzo was fine. So Hanzo 1 - Nagato 0.

But we all know that Pain won Hanzo without difficulty:

And the reason behind that is what i stated at the begin of my thread. Pain has much more advantages in a fight than Nagato. Pain is immortal, Pain is 6, Pain can move, Pain is invincible, Nagato not

PS: Btw for those who say that Preta Path can absorb every ninjutsu, why wasn't he able to absorb Hanzos katon attack? The answer is simple. Preta Path absorbs chakra base ninjutsu, it can't absorb something which is solid. The katon attack Hanzo created was to release explosiv tags. So eventhough he used ninjutsu, it create a solid material, and that's why Preta Path could not absorb it. I say that especially to some people who think Preta Path can absorb something like Mokuton, which is greatly wrong. Eventhough Mokuton is a ninjutsu type, it create living and solid plants, solid branches, so impossible to absorb

FIrst at all Nagato can use all the 7 paths at the same time and the reason why Nagato lost to Hanzo was because he was unpreprared. They thought they would become allies of Hanzo but instead it was a trap and they fell for it. When it was 1 vs 1 fair Nagato vs Hanzo then ofcourse Nagato would have won. And if you dont believe me: It took Bee in TB form+Itachi+Naruto KCM to seal Nagato, while 6 paths were defeated by plain Naruto in sage mode.

Right, so Nagato fought an army + Hanzo (who had to run for his life) in a poor emotional state, whereas Pain (being controlled by a calmer Nagato [in an emotional sense]) dispatched of a Hanzo who was totally unprepared for battle - yet you claim this puts Pain beyond Nagato. I'd love to hear how you actually managed to stumble upon that conclusion with the information we were given. Like, you even spoke about Hanzo's paper bomb technique as if Nagato wasn't saving his comrade :/

Technically the 6 paths of Pain is Nagato.

When he fought Hanzo and got his legs messed up he never used any of the path abilities. Seeing how against Naruto and Bee he could use all of the techniques would lead one to think he learned them after his encounter with Hanzo. Nagato can use each of the techniques at a faster rate than the individual paths so he makes up for the numbers of bodies by speed of the techniques they used. Plus with the animal path he is able to use the animals to see from multiple view points.

So if Nagato wasn't crippled he could technically join with his paths and act as a seventh pain that uses all of the techniques...that is if the machine he is in isn't used for the control of the paths and just for providing the chakra rods and his own personal method of mobility

It's obvious that Nagato controling the 6 path of Pein is by far stronger and more dangerous than Nagato as 1 person having 6 path's power.

The Paths of Pain are nothing but 6 dead bodies if Nagato isn't involved. How can they be "better/stronger", than Nagato?
Nagato can create 6 clones all the same and have them use the Path abilities. So, to rephrase: Nagato can create 6 clones, and have all six have the abilities of all six paths. Clearly better than 6 bodies with only one path ability.

Nagato can also use regular ninjutsu, such as Fire, Water etc. The Paths can't use such elements. He can also use the Paths' abilities to a greater extent, and can regain the ability to walk and become healthy if he gets hold of good enough chakra.

My thoughts exactly. That's why Pain is considered as invincible, Pain destroyed Hanzo, destroyed SM Jiraya, destroyed Konoha entirely by killing powerful jounins like Kakashi, etc What are Nagato feats? Got his feets destroyed by Hanzo and ended crippled, got sealed by Itachi with totsuka, things that would have never happened if it was Pain instead
