Yo guys I was just reading the naruto shippuden manga where I noticed on chapter 254 page 15 that pain has the sharingan on top of his rinnegan although he only has three tonoe, It can't be a mistake as it is clearly drawn so what is it.

Yeah it was a drawing mistake i Carried on to the following pages and the design of rinnegan had changed without sharingan so it was probs a drawing mistake or a design change

That was just an early look of the rinnegan. Either Kishi did it so people can think those eyes were part of the sharingan or he was just coming up with idea and later removed the tomoe.

It might have been when Kishi was still undecided on the design of the Rinnegan, as even in the anime it had different colours towards the beginning of Shippuden, so it's probably just a mistake or an earlier version of the Rinnegan concept
