I wanna say gai wins but just saying gai should not be able to beat shukaku at base especially when that bijuu is prob most hax when fighting a physical damage person like gai just saying

If gaara could get into by getting knocked out it should win if he is in base only

Lee needed Gates to bypass Gaara's sand shield. Gai didn't out speed anything. If you reread that chapter, Gaara was moving his sand slowly towards Lee. Gai was also able to disperse it because it was nothing but mere sand..not solidified but mere sand. And also factor in that the fact he even interfered was what made Gaara stop. Notice how he seemed to have a headache whenever someone wanted to protect someone? (Gai for Lee in CE, Gai for Lee in hospital, Sakura for Sasuke Konoha Crush, Naruto for Sakura Konoha crush)

OT: Lee opened to the 4th gate I believe but even with that, he could only peel off part of Gaara's sand armor seeing as Gaara emerged from that fight uninjured and not much fazed. I don't believe Base Gai has strength and speed = 4th gate.
Now I don't know who wins...but I just wanted to make it known that it wouldn't be a 'stomp'
