While it is possible for anyone to do CPR without chakra, this technique is an improvement. By holding your hands over a patients chest you are able to use chakra to contract the myocardium (heart muscle) which causes the heart to start pumping blood as well as the diaphragm and the intercostal muscle so the rib case starts compressing and de-compressing the lungs. This technique is not effective if for some reason the air passage is blocked. It does not provide oxygen or blood, only forces air in and out of the lungs and makes the heart continue to beat by forcefully making the muscles to move. A high ranked mednin is able to perform this technique on two patients at once if the need should arise. Off course, the patient must be on cardiac arrest (or in a severe risk of such) and unconscious as it would otherwise not be needed to use this technique. Essentially, this will keep blood circulating and air coming in and out of the patients lungs in an attempt to minimize damage from the lack of circulation. It does the same as compressing a patients chest and doing mouth to mouth breathing (traditional CPR) but using your chakra and doing it move effectively, essentially avoiding the tiredness and fatigue that comes from doing the compressions/ventilations manually. This, however, is only a temporary solution. In between usages, the medical ninja still needs to try and tackle the original issue that lead the heart to stop. Because its not the same as the patients own heart beat and respiration, the technique can only be effective for a small time window before brain and tissue damage start to happen.
For every 15 heart compressions, normally 1 each .5 seconds, the medical ninja must produce 2 ventilations.

Type: Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20 per turn
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user puts his palms on top of the patients chests and uses his chakra to keep the heart pumping and the muscles that normally expand the lungs in order to suck in air contracting - therefore artificially keeping the patient alive until his heart and lungs start working on their own again. Each use allows 15 heart compressions and 2 ventilations.
Note: This can be done on 2 patients simultaneously if the situation calls for it doubling the chakra cost.
Note: Can only be sustained for 6 turns.
Suddenly, out of nowhere Priest's body is struck by a B-Ranked lightning bolt directly on the left shoulder. The entry point was pierced directly through, leaving not only a gaping hole but also a burn wound. This action alone severed muscles in the area, removing all mobility near instantly. Upon entering the bolt spread in an unfocused manner throughout the chest area, leaving Priest with burned scars in the form of a growing three. The voltage was strong enough to cause his heart to stop beating, thus causing his body to fall to the ground. As it falls, Priest's head hits the corner of the bed, causing blunt trauma with a superficial cut directly above the right ear.
"Corvo, you need to hurry up and tend to Priest right away! Begin with the Chakra CPR technique and move on from there. You'll have to apply everything you've learned thus far in order to save his life."
Corvo got up from his seat, surprised at what had just occurred. He nodded at his instructor and proceeded to hastily run aggressive chakra from his palms, dragging the bulbs of chakra along his entire body. Once completed, he increases the radius of these bulbs of chakra and tones down its aggressiveness, running it over Priest's body. Time was of the essence, this much he knew, thus, after determining that his heart had stopped, Corvo began to employ the new method of CPR that had been introduced to him. He ensures that Priest is in the appropriate position and places his palms on top of his chest, using his chakra to produce a reaction that causes the heart muscles to contract, along with manipulating the diaphragm and intercostal muscle such that the lungs begin to compress and de-compress with air. He focuses on performing these three actions through the use of Chakra CPR until Priest's heart began to pump blood on its own. With his heart restarted, his lungs started functioning normally. Now that the most life-threatening portion of the injuries were resolved, Corvo moved on to the superficial cut on the right ear, and summoned a portion of a bandage to wrap the cut in along with a sterilized knife. He strengthened his resolve and removed the upper clothing of Priest by cutting it with the knife to get a better look at the biggest wound. It seems he had to resort to using the Mystic Palm, and so he formed an aura of light green healing chakra into his hands, sending it into the wound. A time consuming process, he would press on as the severed muscles and burned area healed slowly but surely (costing 80 chakra over the course of 80 minutes/4 turns).
After a grueling amount of time, the wound had healed completely. With Priest regaining consciousness, Corvo instructs him to remain awake for the following twelve hours in the event that a concussion was sustained from hitting his head against the bed.

OOC: There are some key things which are quite important that I noticed you forgot to mention Mudo. First, although not a deal breaker by any means, you did not raise your body's natural resistance before the treatment began. This is but a fast and passive action that shouldn't be overlooked, even in the most dire of situations. The second thing, which is by far the most important is the fact that you did not utilize the diagnosis ability. It seems that you used your OOC knowledge of the events that took place to treat Priest. Through a visual diagnostic, you would have been able to deduce that he was pierced by the bolt, and that he had been hit in the back/side of the head, but that's about it. It is very important that next time you treat someone, you do a full-on chakra diagnosis to see that everything checks out inside of Priest's body. Thirdly, is the fact that you didn't aid in coagulating the blood that was seeping from the gaping hole that the lightning bolt entered through. I didn't mention the bleeding, but the gaping hole that tore through the tissue/flesh should have been an indication of it. Just a key note for future reference.
Now onto the Chakra CPR technique. This may have been a confusing on the wording of the technique but, you are able to sustain it for a total of 6 turns, which means you can do a total of; 90 Heart compressions & 2 Ventilations. This is due in part of being highly unlikely that someone can be resuscitated after just a single usage. By what I mean is that, with each "session, or turn of CPR" you should have tried to fit some form of process in between. By that I mean that you could have diagnosed Priest's body in-between periods of CPR, or every 20 minutes which would be the span of 1 turn, and you have a total of 6 to use up. (Although you don't need to of course as it is situational.)
This may be a personal tip but its something that I noticed throughout your description. You did not specify anything in regards to Priest's wound, just that he had been wounded in general. In a NW-Situation, description is key although in most cases it is cosmetic and filler text. In the future if possible, I would like to see more detail in terms of where the wounds are, and what is occurring. (Example: Shoulder was pierced through by the bolt of lightning. Pretty much tweaking my descriptions a bit more or simply adding more information if you are able to.) Highly unlikely but someone can take advantage in the lack of description of your healing method and they may jump the gun and say that some portions weren't taken care of, etc etc.
A minor detail I noticed was when you summoned some of your medical tools. As per the description, you have to bite your thumb which suggests that you require a blood ritual like the summoning technique does. This means that by default, you've infected your hand once again, after having cleansed it. You then proceeded to heal Priest with your bleeding finger, again unlikely but the blood could have dripped onto the entry wound. On the actual field and large scope of things, all of this is highly unlikely but I wanted to point it out nonetheless.
Lastly is the usage of the Mystic Palm technique. I purposely mentioned the ranked so you would take notice and apply it to your chakra cost. In that regard, you did it correctly. Where the hiccup happened was in deducing the free-form damage that was caused by the injury on Priest's head. You forgot to include that into the total sum of chakra spent to do the healing. Above, Nathan has already mentioned some rough chakra calculations for free-form damage. In this case I would have gone with E-Ranked x2 in terms of chakra usage. By the way, next time you can simply include the chakra cost in the actual Mystical Palm technique that way you get used to it for future official battle/NW-use.
If there are any questions on your part or something that I may have missed, please point it out to me!

"How are you feeling? Corvo seems to have done a good job on the treatment. Now its your turn!" As he said this, Luffy smirked as he raised his dominant hand and pointed it towards Corvo. Out of nowhere, it seemed as though lightning materialized from thin air as it escaped out from Zeus' bracelet. The wave of lightning A-Ranked in strength would being to violently shock Corvo's entire body. The sudden yet continuous shocked cause the student to bite onto their tongue, causing extreme bleeding as it was nearly bitten off completely. The voltage from the lightning caused Corvo's heart to stop. The lightning energy was then manipulated in a way that would travel down Corvo's right leg and exit out of his ankle in a compressed manner, leaving an exit hole with minor bleeding. The escape however, caused a chain reaction as the lightning pierced through the other ankle as well as it then made its way into the ground, effectively leaving the student's body with two pierced ankles and burned damage all throughout the aforementioned leg. "Oops..."
All points noted. I'll adjust my future replies accordingly; thanks for the detailed feedback! Corvo rolls his eyes as he hears Luffy say that it's his turn, closing them moments before the lightning releases and mumbling the word "shi-" under his breath.

Priest was still nodding his head and stretching his body when the sensei struck once more. He realized the sensei could definitely be the reason behind his own predicament. Thanks to Corvo but now he needs to return the favour. Priest watches as the lightning ravages Corvo's body though he would not be aware that he had actually bit his own tongue in the process. The attack would see Corvo immediately fall though while the electricity ravages Corvo, Priest knew he would have to treat him so even before he falls, Priest would have increase his own resistance to disease and infection while running aggressive chakra all over him to clean his own body. As soon as corvo falls and his ankles bleed open, Priest could notice the lightning escaping into the ground and as a master of lightning himself, he knew that its safe to touch the body of corvo as the electric current have been earthed.
He would immediately create aggressive chakra into his right hand while cleaning the whole of Corvo. At the same time, he need to quickly react to the open wound that he can physically see at the moment, so while cleaning all of Corvo, he would use his free hand to coagulate the blood on the ankles so that much is not lost. His right hand, having cleaned Corvo, would morph into a diagnostic chakra which would be used to probe corvo while the left hand still clots the blood on the ankle area. Alas, Priest discovers more damage has been cause than the one that is physically seen. If he had not run the diagnostic test, Corvo would have chokes in his own blood and on the other hand, his heart is not responding. He had to do two things at a time. While transitioning the left hand into Corvo's face to clot the blood around the tongue, his right hand chakra is tuned and placed over Corvo's chest so that he begins the CPR, kipping his heart pumping with 15 heart compressions and 2 ventilations. Since the cause of the heart failure has escaped the victim's body, there is nothing keeping the heart from not reviving and at the right compression, the heart jumpstarts once again.
Priest would be done with the coagulation of the blood around the tongue so now its healing time. Priest would begin to run yang chakra on both his hands all overr corvo, starting from his tongue, his ankles and his entire body due to internal tissue, organ and muscle damage the lightning current must have cause. Every burned and open tissue would be regenerated and sealed up causing the temporary clotting of the blood over the wound to be safe.
After the healing, Priest would summon
メス - scalpel, sterilized
アルコール - a bottle of 96% ethanol for disinfection
水 - a bottle of sterilized water
スポイト - syringe, sterile, for one time use only
アドレナリン - adrenaline, to be injected intravasulary,
induces faster heartbeat
包帯 - bandage, sterile, 8 meters in length
流体 - a set to start an intravenous fluid addition line, helpful
with dehydration amongst many other conditions
Water
Milk
Priest would immediately put a band aid on his finger used to draw blood for the summoning. He would then clean himself once again before trying to inject Corvo with adrenaline shot. Then he would set up for blood transfusion. This he would do by donating some of his own blood while the chakra used in doing the transfusion would change the blood type to that of Corvo's. He would go on ahead and do a blood transfusion so as to replace the blood loss. He would then give to Corvo, water and milk so that Corvo chills with it. They help with dehydration from rapid blood loss.
Priest then turn to the callous Doctor. "He'll kill us before we are done with this training, I'm sure." He thought.

OOC: Apologies for the delayed response, I had been contacted by Mudo before and he informed me with his tight schedule so I delayed my response purposely until he contacted me once again.
OOC: Great job Priest, I like that you paid attention to the key notes that I mentioned on Mudo's post. The only thing I have to seriously point out is that you did mention Mudo potentially choking by the blood of his injured tongue, hence why you began clotting the blood. However, the clotting process is nowhere near instant, and Mudo already had blood escaping into his mouth, quickly filling it up. This means that he was drowning in his own blood as you tried to do the CPR, continuously filling up his lungs with blood, essentially killing him. Just like with a drunk patient, what you needed to do was put him either face down, or to his side, so the blood could escape and not go back down his throat and into his lungs as you performed the CPR method. Aside from that, everything else seemed to be okay. I will be posting the next portion of the lesson which is more on the lines of homework, as its more informative than anything else. I will not have you do anything in terms of actual performance, I will leave that for the next lesson. I just ask that you guys please carefully read the information and ask any questions if there are any.
Hekirekite no Jutsu (Thunder Hands Technique)
This method is basically a ninjutsu in which the user focuses the chakra in his hands so that they can create an electric shock able to give a sufficient amount of electricity to make the heart start beating again in the event it has stopped (not saying that this is the only usage, I'm just making a comparison).
The technique:
(Iryō Raikō Ninjutsu: Ikazuchi Te) Lightning Medical Technique: Medical Thunder Hands
Type: Attack / Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: A technique used to reset the hearts electrical frequency and pace or to induce it. In other words, this technique is the medical ninjas version of a defibrilator. The medical ninja will charge up electricity on both his hands and press them on the patient. The left hand must be directly on top of the heart and the right hand on the side, beneath the armpit of the patient. As the electricity is discharged, the electric pace of the heart is either normalized or restarted. The technique can be used in healthy targets as a way to induce abnormal electric paces and if done repeatedly can even cancel it completely. While the technique is effective, it has to be used in between the use of chakra CPR to have some chance of success and even so, only 1 every 3 uses will be successful depending on the targets conditions.
This can be used on the heart, as a shorter but less efficient (tho sometimes necessary) version of the Oxygen supply method. To use this technique on the heart which has stopped beating, you place one hand on the patient's upper right chest, just below the shoulder and the other hand on the left side of the patients chest, several inches below the arm and to the left of the chest. It is important that the patient be dry as possible when this technique is used and that no other person is touching.
This will be used in conjunction with the body points disturbance technique also, and you can use it as an attack (yay right?) only make sure you're actually touching the opponent with only your hands, otherwise you'll get electrocuted too.
Questions?
Q&A
"I actually do have a question, maybe somewhat irrelevant to this technique but essentially it's the same principle. In the last few manga editions we've seen Sakura pump Naruto's heart with her bare hands. I believe that this is more or less a weaker method of that? Btw. this seems like basic defibrillation. I also wonder (since it can be used as an attack) if it can be used on other internal organs to cause harm to the opponent?"
Its nothing like that.
Your heart works (like all muscles) on electrical input commands. This means that it contracts and beats according to an electrical pulse that originates in a small nodule of the heart. That electricity is what keeps the heart beating. When the heart beats, blood flows into the artheries as a ripple (a spike in pressure) which you can feel in certain more superficial artheries as what we call a pulse (in your wrist, behind your thumb on the palm side or in your neck, next to the traquea are the most common places to feel your pulse). The beating of the heart produces a blood pressure. Blood pressure has 2 values: the high one (when your heart beats) called systolic blood preassure (when the heart contracts in the systolic phase) and the low one (in that small time your heart is relaxed) called diastolic (as it happens in the diastolic phase). Its measured in mmHG (mercury millimeters) and is one of our basic vital signs. If its too high it can stress the heart and cause hemorraghic strokes and heart attacks, if its too low, it causes lack of oxygenation to the organs and brain with similar results. Normal values are between 100/60 mmHG to 120/80 mmHG. This is what is the result of your heart beating and having enough blood. If you don't have enough blood, the pressure is low and the heart can't beat properly.
But the heart beats as a result of electrical current through its muscle body. Now, electricity travels in mediums as we well know. Muscle and nerves are a medium. It also, in biological context, is dependent on salt and ion based balance which enables that electrical current to work and be generated. Now, I won't dwell on details of RL electrocardiac aspects but you can essentially have 3 situations of abnormality:
No electrical current, which is otherwise called asystole, or flatline. There is no electrical current to make the heart beat. This can happen due to many situations such as lack of energy (if the person becomes too weakened or lacks nutrients, there is no ATP and energy to produce electrical discharges basically), damaged nodule, poisons, etc. Many things can cause this. Even an overload of excessive electrical energy (like an external shock) or even muscle death or destruction.
Disfunctional electrical current and the main, most known one is Fibrillation. In this case the nodule is fired up and releases electrical inputs but instead of doing their job, they simply go haywire and don't make the heart beat. There is a spike, meaning there is the electrical beat but there is no muscle function in response. Basically, you have a spike in the EC monitor but you don't have a pulse. This can be from diseases, shocks, poisons or toxins, etc. The variety is enormous.
Out of Control Pace is the last type. In this case what happens is a change in the frequency of the electrical current pulses. This can cause bradicardia (low frequency), taquicardia (high frequency) or extrasystoles (there is an electrical pulse here and there that doesn't produce a muscle reaction, thus a beating). Many things from anxiety, to blood cloths, to diseases, toxins, poisons, drugs, etc can cause any of these. The Taquicardia, mixed with Extrasystoles normally is in the early stages of a fibrilation episode for example.
Now, having electrical current doesn't always equal a beating or a periferal pulse. Now, departing from RL and to make this simpler, in Nverse, what happens is that you might have a patient with chakra (physical energy) trying to make its heart beat but to no sucess because its heart is simply not responding for some reason. The electrical energy is disfunctional. So, in this case, you need to set it straight and reset it. what do you do? You use this technique to shock the patients heart, making it restart. Its the Nverse counterpart of the Defibrilhator you all see in TV and Movies, the thing they use with two paddles before saying "CLEARRRRRRR!!!!!! ZAP! Charge to 300 joules!!!!! CLEARRRRRR!!!!!!". It won't always work on the first try and you need to make sure that you are performing chakra CPR in between the shocks to make sure blood is flowing and oxygen is being supplied. Basically, anytime you have a patient who has no pulse, use this technique in between the chakra CPR to make his heart restart. Remember though that blood level, chakra level, injuries, etc all play a part and most of the times, the injuries might be too advanced to allow this.
What Sakura did was, because she had little chakra, what we call "manual compressions". Its when instead of doing the compressions in the chest to keep blood floowing, you do them manually in the heart. Cardiac Massage. She used chakra scalpel, opened his thorax, inserted her hand and squeezed his heart manually, making sure his blood is being pumped to his body. Its very very limited in the effect and difficult to achieve but can work to keep a person alive a few minutes. What she did was the manual and internal version of Chakra CPR.
Curiosity: when people flatline in the movies and tv, they shock them with a defibrilator...yet people were not fibrilating...they were assystole. In RL, you give medicine and compresse their hearts until the electrical current restarts. The shocking isn't used in Assystole. But in Nverse, lets always assume it is. Lol
PS- This is a very simplified explanation as its a very complex thing. I hope you guys understand. If you want to know more, use wikia to know like the "user friendly" level of details and if you want we can develop it a bit more.
I like this. Its just a manual version of my shock therapy. I'll like to know if this can be used to bring back someone that is unconscious but his heart is still beating. What if the unconsciousness is as a result of a genjutsu like tsukuyomi?
Another question is the puncturing of the thorax thing, I have seen it used countless of times where a victim would be unable to breathe at all and the first aid is to puncture the thorax with a thin metal pipe to allow the excape of air thus allowing one to breathe with ease. What could be the cause which could prompt one to do this procedure? Lung failure? Can one use cpr to rectify this defect?
Its said it can be used for attack. What are the notable effect on the opponent? Paralysis, spasm, death, organ failure?
The only question I have is similar to Priest's last one regarding the techniques offensive capabilities. Would the amount of damage inflicted/its lethality be dependent on the location of where you place your hands on the target?

It all depends on how the person became unconscious. It all boils down to logic and common sense. For example the pure mental stress and damage caused by the Nightmare Realm Technique (120 Damage) is beyond something like shock to wake them up. However if they forced to fall asleep like with the Temple of Nirvana Technique, this would allow you to wake them up, however you'd be causing damage to them.
That procedure is done in order to create a direct vacuum line between the patient's airways and the outside air so it can suck in air and begin breathing once again. It is also done to sometimes use the line as a way to pump out blood that is filling up the lungs, making them unable to breath at all. Imagine a balloon with water inside, when you puncture it, it begins to deflate and release the contents inside. This is a similar concept if the lungs are filled with blood.
If used once, the technique is strong enough to cause minor muscle spasm and not to the point where they'd be paralyzed for a full turn. It would simply cause damage and shock of spasm. If used repeatedly, I'd say about 3 times, you could cause the electrical signals to be canceled all together, thus causing the heart to stop beating. But as I pointed out to Mudo, it has to be done in the specified location, and not simply placing your palm anywhere you please.
The only question I have is similar to Priest's last one regarding the techniques offensive capabilities. Would the amount of damage inflicted/its lethality be dependent on the location of where you place your hands on the target?
OOC: Sadly this technique doesn't offer versiality in terms of where you place your hands, it is a clear cut deal. You have to place one hand on the chest and the other beneath the arm pit. It can be used "offensively" but in the way it is described. I will be posting a small article with interesting information that can be taken into account for future battles and interactions with lightning and how it affects the body's electrical pulses.
On the heart
With every contraction, the heart pumps blood carrying oxygen throughout the body. The rhythm of the heartbeat is controlled by electrical impulses, which can be seen on an electrocardiogram. Current passing through the heart can cause an irregular heartbeat called arrhythmia, or even total disorganization of the rhythm, called ventricular fibrillation.
When ventricular fibrillation occurs, the heart stops pumping. The victim rapidly loses consciousness and dies if a healthy heartbeat is not restored by applying a second electric shock with a device called a defibrillator.
Heart rhythm disturbances can occur at the time of the shock or in the 24 hours following the accident.
On the muscles
Muscles are stimulated by electricity. The effect of an electric shock depends on which muscles the current goes through. A current of more than 10 mA causes sustained contraction (tetanus) of the flexors, that is, the muscles that close the fingers and draw the limbs towards the body. The victim thus cannot let go of the source of current.
If the extensors (the muscles that open the figures and extend the limbs away from the body) are tetanized, the victim is propelled away from the current source, sometimes as much as ten metres!
Muscles, ligaments and tendons may tear as a result of the sudden contraction caused by an electric shock. Tissue can also be burned if the shock is lasting and the current is high.
On the nervous system
Nerves are the tissue that offers the least resistance to the passage of an electric current. Some nerve damage caused by shock clears up with time, but some is permanent. The victim may feel pain, tingling, numbness, weakness or difficulty moving a limb.
When a shock occurs, the victim may be simply dazed or may experience amnesia, seizure or respiratory arrest.
Ultimate damage to the nerves and the brain will depend on the extent of the injuries caused by the heat along the path of the electric current and may develop up to three years after the shock. Nerve damage can also cause psychiatric disorders.
Electrical burns
Electrical burns are not like burns caused by fire or by touching something hot. Electrical burns result from the heat generated by an electric current passing through the body, which literally cooks the tissue from within. Outward signs of electrical burns may be microscopic or nonexistent, and internal damage may be much more serious than the external injuries suggest. That's the iceberg effect.
Electrical marks appear at the body's point of contact with the current. They are typically tiny charred or hard craters that do not hurt because the nerves have been destroyed.
If a lot of tissue is destroyed, the waste generated can cause serious kidney or blood circulation disorders.
Electrical burns often have serious consequences: scarring, amputation, loss of function, loss of sensation and even death.
Elsewhere in the body
Electric shock can also affect the eyes, causing cataracts to develop over time. Other disorders can appear in the weeks or months following the accident, depending on which organs the current passed through.
Note: The information noted above isn't to be quoted as Law for the medical school or this technique in particular. It is simply in real life knowledge, that can be applied through custom techniques or specific situations in order to draw out information on what may or may not happen upon contact and being shocked. It gives you the ability to pick and choose what to do with the voltage you are working with. (Instead of saying, I shock you and you can't move.)
I'll be posting the new lesson in the afternoon, if you guys have any more questions on this subject, please don't be afraid to ask them.
