Earth Can Fit, at least 1 more Earths worth of Population. The Overpopulation is just a myth. When it will start overpopulating, by that time we will be able to move through Galaxies

Not in the most populated metropolises.

Take Japan for example, Tokyo and Osaka are over-crowded.

Don't get me started on the PRC.

I hope you're not in America, because not everywhere has such a large land mass, far from it. And that's the problem, land mass. People aren't automatically allocated to spots in the world that equalizes the population density - some parts are practically empty and some are over-flooded.

A lot of people can't afford to move to less populated areas and therefore, you end up with tinned sardines.

Overpopulation is a problem that's beginning to occur.

Nature taking care Of overpopulation would be a long and nasty process- starvation, Disease would be at a all time high.

Strictly speaking, measures taken by humanity while perhaps immoral would certainly be better than a natural alternative.

Although its a huge potential problem- the reason no or little action is currently being taken is because:
1) as technology improves the capacity to take care of more people increases.
2) space colonization would allow more people to survive.

Basically- the over population crises can potentially be completely overted of technology is advanced enough.
The plus side is- history has shown that the more people there are- because of collaboration- the higher the rate of progression is. As long as society keeps on advancing at a fast enough pace- over population can be mitigated.

Anybody who says its not a potential problem is uninformed. While its not a global crisis- overpopulation is a problem in cities like Hong Kong- where you can only have a single kid.

If the worlds population is too high, then that means resources will deplete faster, and depleted resources will create war through out the world for the few remaining resources we have left. This is just a worse case senario, because we can recycle and create resources(from other resources lol), but if the population is to high than the resources will be depleted before we could do anything drastic to prevent it.

Solution, tho: Employ DNA modification so that some percentage of human would be sterile and problem solved. Kind of good solution if we don't have any other choice. Assuming that we can employ DNA modification.

That vaguely reminds me of a Japanese film set in the future, where the government put a kind of virus or something in randomly selected people to deal with overcrowding.

The virus or whatever it was would activate after so many years, but people with it would get special privileges.

Overpopulation is lie. Because people are tricked into consent, it that allows government to perform horrific acts on people, usually in poorer nations, to curb birth rates. Trust me, this planet is big enough for everyone. It's true that some live beyond their means, but believe me when I tell you that the biggest offenders of this crime are usually the millionaires in government who speak out against it the loudest. It's much the same with fossil fuels. They can claim that we're using too much fossil fuels and that higher prices will curb their use. This will only negatively affect the non-rich of society however, because no matter how expensive gasoline gets, the officials who support for higher prices will be able to afford it regardless.

Well that's factually incorrect. In most world countries, the population is rising. The population is evening out in many developed countries (such as the USA), and is even slightly decreasing in countries like Japan though. Overall, however, the population is rising. It's just a question on what (if anything) you want to do about it, and how big of a problem you see it as.

I think by the time the earth is overpopulated we'll be pushed into extinction next. By some sort of virus or some sort of chemical warfare.

It's kind of funny too because on these zombie shows you notice that there are zombies everywhere. Like so many people got infected and it lasts for years in verses like 28 Days Later or The Walking dead. Like where did all these people who became infected come from? Maybe the world was overpopulated before hand and now that whatever broke out to infect people caused the endless wave of zombies.

Overpopulation is a looming problem, but the bigger picture is the availability of resources like water.

I advocate sustainable methods of conservation and resource exploitation. Unfortunately, the cultures of many first world countries and their subsequent practices don't necessarily align with that vision.

But if we can adopt wide scale policies and practices that are indeed sustainable, overpopulation becomes that much smaller of a problem.

Make Abortions a requirement for anyone under 17 (This is really good one, lowering the population and also stopping everyones lives from being ruined)

I had a course called Molecural Biology in High School so we learned a lot about genetics and stuff like that. However, from what I remember from these classes genetic modification is not really option for anything... you know, like curing genetic diseases and changing DNA chain for that purpose.
Thing like that is too futuristic and impossible now. However, if the problem with overpopulation continues and it's likely that it will then maybe solutions like this won't sound impossible.
But, I heard that new Dan Brown's book Inferno describes situation in which some mad ( or is he mad? ) scientist develops the virus which can modify human DNA and cause sterility. I've only read the plot on the internet, I haven't read the book so I'm not sure how is this presented... But, yeah... If you are interested...

I'm sorry guys but our civilization is about to enter a depopulation process, overpopulation is not a problem.
the reformist theory, which is currently accepted by decent geographers, says the same.

but depopulation will occur not because many people on earth is a problem - in fact, UN says that we can feed up to 11 billion people on the planet) - but because the global elite wants us to be few so they can control us. they put polion and fluoride on our water, mercury on our vaccines, uranium on our snacks and galium on pop soda. they want to depopulate us by any means necessary because if we are few we can be controlled very easily and therefore enslaved even further effectively (we are already).

thats almost like an insult to other countries like japan or russia, where under population is a problem and they actually pay you to have kids

the reason soo many great things exist today is because of people, the more people, the more evolved and advanced we become.
because of people we have enough voice actors to do anime, alot of talented writers to share their stores and people working in fields of science, like doctors, denists etc

7billion+ people on earth, I'm not against your optioned but that's a large number for a planet so small with a vast amount areas uninhibitable. I think cigs are a population control method along with drugs look into the golden pyramid, the boom of prescription medication abuse. They are populis control methods in my eyes.
