It's not my theory, it's in the manga. Kurama CAN use nature energy, and it was hinted before due to the resasons I've already posted.

The reason why Kurama's chakra didn't grant BSM to Naruto is probably that it needed to be synced as said here: [

Other than that, Naruto had to resist using the Kyuubi's chakra, because then it would have taken him over. Remember, when he was using the Kyuubi's chakra, he went berserk and couldn't control it. In KCM, he could use a portion of it without being affected by the Kyuubi's malice.

In BM he can use all the Kyuubi's chakra, because Kurama is his pal, so he won't take over Naruto's mind.

I think SM can be combined with BM exactly because Kurama is using nature energy too, and it can by synced with Naruto's nature energy. But it HAS to be synced and balanced out.
