The Outer Reefs (A03)

The Outer Reefs is located further west of the Shallows and is characterized by a steep drop off in depth, breaching 40 meters and reaching as deep as 300 meters below the surface. It is a massive biome composed of relatively flat areas with reefs littering the floor of the ocean. Most of the flora at its deepest reaches are highly bioluminescent making for beautiful sights, but still do not compare to the Great Reef to the southwest. As part of the Western Ocean it is connected to the shoreline of Kamiyasumi, the Shallows, and the Icy Floes. It is also connected to the Veiled Ocean and the Great Reef to the southwest.​

Travelling further west, the choppy ice water turned smoother the further west they sailed. The island grew slower but they were still a ways away.

Horus sat and relaxed as the ship sailed east towards the lands he knew. His creations kept watch, taking it in turns to rest. The crew assured him that wasn't needed but in these times you could never be too sure. Something still didn't feel right, not since the pillar of light in the sky, but who could say how long ago that was now? What did it even mean?

He lay back pondering what would be in stall for him next as he enjoyed the sounds of the ocean day passed.

The ship sailed west, carried by ocean breeze through the reefs. Sin sat now, atop the mast, casting his gaze across the ocean. It all seemed very surreal. He'd spent so long trapped in darkness, a prisoner bound and treated like a beast, it seemed almost impossible for this to be real. Closing his eyes he tilted his head back feeling the cooling breeze carrying the ocean mist on his skin. The warmth of the sun filled him with a feeling he'd not had for a long time, hope.​

His injuries had all but healed, it was a matter of regaining his strength. He wanted to train his abilities, but this wasn't the safest place to do so and his body wasn't at 100%. Instead he sat back and for the first time since the Cataclysm, relaxed. He knew nothing of what lied to the east but it surely couldn't be worse than what he'd been through. Resting his eyes, he drifted off into a deep slumber, one much needed as the ship continued west.​

Inveria wondered what Sanctuary would be like, if it would be a safe haven or if it would be hostile, though if the indication that a smith would create weapons for adventurers, then it couldn't be all bad.

In the depths of the night, Masaki tossed and turned during his sleep on the deck of the ship. Uncomfortable, yet it was all he had at the time. Thoughts ran through his head about what would await for him at Kamiyasumi, what this fabled blacksmith would be like, and if this journey would present any new challenges. Needless to say, he slept, hoping the ship would make for land upon daybreak.

The ship travelled east, returning to the docks of the mainland. Masaki made small talk with some of the passengers to pass the time. He learnt of an interesting way to season wild oxen to remove the gaminess of the texture and add a certain zing to it, involving a Fire Release technique. Supposedly the properties in the chakra affected the meat in a peculiar way that normal fanned flames were not capable of.

The ship continued onward.
