Previous post. This post marks the beginning of my mission using these storyboard elements:
- Scout potential threats (2).
Clearing the Ravine and moving to a new area as she climbed out of it, Musashi was greeted by a tremendous storm; powerful winds whipping about in every direction, and pelting rain. There was a clearing, of sorts here - not a natural break in the massive cedar forest, per say, but rather a clearing where the strong winds had decimated the forest and left nothing but stumps, as the massive trees had been snapped like twigs.
Musashi clutched her hat and cloak, trying to shield herself from the weather, but becoming soaked through very quickly nonetheless. From the other side of the island, seeing the storm was difficult due to the thickness and pervasiveness of the Cedar Forest, but here, from the river, and the ravine, the massive hurricane like storm could be seen - and felt - in full force.
She vaguely remembered seeing a storm hanging upon the island when she had arrived...but that was days ago? Had a tropical storm made landfall, and then been slowed by the amount of trees on the island sapping its energy? What unfortunate timing, if that was the case, she thought.
She could hardly detect a thing, nor could she really see. The intense rain probably drove whatever lived in this area into hiding, and beyond that, the strong winds decimating the forest probably displaced whatever did live here. She tried her best to get a lay of the surroundings, but, honestly, with the thick wind and rain she could hardly see to make out the landscape.
She would later recount the area in her notes and add it to her map, but for now, there was not much she could do. Once the storm cleared, the area should be fairly safe, she though, and if they wanted to develop the continent, it would help that much of the trees here had already been felled - though cleaning up all the debris would be a challenge all its own.
Deciding to keep venturing forward, rather than retreat, though, Musashi continued her adventure.
Leaving Landmark for the Greater Stormlands (281).
