In response to the Cat being put in the microwave thread... he ended his OP with "wtf is wrong with this generation",

it's a statement I see a lot, and a statement that shouldn't really be asked because well.. the world has always been gullible, ignorant, and messed up. I guess the reason people say this is because older adult figures have learned from their many mistakes in life and act more enlightened, making younger people think that they were always wiser.

I can counter just about any current "our generation" phenomenon with an equally, if not worse event in history that shows equal ignorance and gullibility.

I suppose so. But general stupidity is starting to show. That people actually think they can get away with things in this day and age. It's rather sad in all honesty.

I agree, it's always been the same. It's because of the Internet that such news get spread around much faster. I mean back in the days, news that teenager tortured a kitten wouldn't have made an article in a newspaper.

This. Nothings really changed, its been the same for many, many generations. Technology makes us think our generation is the worst because we're updated with everything going on around the world.

Ignorance has always existed throughout the generations. I think technology has made our generation colder though, as if we lack human qualities like sympathy and empath. Majority of us not at all trying to see things from another perspective because technology allows us to not only hide who a person really is, but prevent us from having to form a true bond with another individual as opposed to the past where people would have to be face-to-face or hear each other to communicate, which is much more personal than just viewing words.

Edit: I agree with others above me as well, we're simply more informed of the stupid things people do because of technology as well.

This. With the technology that has been developed, we can see how asinine some people can actually be. Each generation has its flaws, it's just ours has been documented more.

I can agree with that. As a young male, kids today only care about how they look, or how others feel about them.
I get how they feel but I always question who raised them, who showed you how to do this and that. The media shows nothing but how you should feel about a certain situation.
I've grown up with the rules my parents had on their backs, the thing I don't understand is how the kids of this generation completely lack sensibility.
