It was a silent afternoon as the "benedict" leaf shinobi, Sasuke Uchiha sat quietly in the hallway of the Snake Sannin's hideout. Sasuke had been sitting there for about thirty minutes after Orochimaru left out to "check on something". Kabuto stayed behind, considering it an opportunity to observe Orochimaru's "ideal vessel" more closely. He prepared two cups of herbal tea to use as a catalyst to start a casual conversation with his sensei-mutual teammate.
Three or four steps before Kabuto could turn the corner of the hall which Sasuke sat, he was detected. "What do you want Kabuto?" The rhythm in Kabuto's steps was interrupted by Sasuke's sudden voice. He turned the corner with a smile on his face and a platter with two cups of steaming tea. Sasuke glared at him with his jet-black eyes and cold demeanor, "What is this?" A bead of sweat broke from a nervous Kabuto's forehead. "Oh, I just wanted to chat with you briefly." "Well lets keep it brief." Kabuto nodded. He sat against the opposite the wall, facing Sasuke. He placed the platter on the tiled floor, took one cup of tea in his left, and handed Sasuke the other in his right. Sasuke took the tea without snatching to Kabuto's pleasant surprise. "Even still", Kabuto thought, "His chakra is exerting tremendous pressure." The two simultaneously sipped their respective cups of tea.
Kabuto took his fourth sip, nearly out of tea, and commenced conversation. "So Sasuke, how is your repertoire of jutsu coming along?" Sasuke sighed after his second or third sip, "Fine." Sasuke sipped more. Kabuto painfully sat in silence until he mustered the strength to speak again, "How specifically? Are you developing more fire jutsu? Have you copied several jutsu with the Sharingan?" Sasuke became slightly engaged in the conversation, "My fire jutsu are top-class, I AM an Uchiha after all." He placed the half-empty cup of tea on the floor next to him, "I haven't copied any ninjutsu since activating my sharingan." "Oh, why not?" Kabuto asked, "I just haven't found any jutsu of interest to me." Kabuto sighed, "Well if you did decide to copy ninjutsu, the power of your curse mark would make the original pale in comparison."
Sasuke agreed, though he remembered his previous sensei, Kakashi Hatake warning him that use of the curse mark would stagnate his chakra development. "Maybe so..." he said resolving his flashbacks.
Kabuto was thinking about stories Orichimaru told him about his battles with Jiraiya and decided to give Sasuke an idea. "Have you ever heard of Senjutsu?" Sasuke looked up at Kabuto, interested aroused, "Senjutsu...Sage jutsu?" Kabuto nodded, "Yes. Jutsu utilizing natural energy and very little, if any, chakra." Sasuke had only read about sage jutsu but never seen it in real life, much less used it. "As adept as you are with your knowledge of chakra natures, I'm sure you could develop a decent senjutsu given the right conditions."
Sasuke thought about Kabuto just said, "The right 'conditions'?" Sasuke looked at his left hand and built up chakra in it. Kabuto looked on fascinated. Sasuke broke the quiet, "I'm going outside." Sasuke got and ran down the hallway towards the exit, Kabuto followed behind.
Sasuke stood outside staring at the sky. Kabuto came out after retrieving some food pills just in case. "What's your idea Sasuke?" Sasuke said nothing. He just stared at the sky, Sharingan activated. "How am I going to do this?" He thought staring at the blue sky. Sasuke stood calmly. Kabuto made an inspiring comment, "Well well Sasuke. For all the fire in your heart, you sure know how to call the storm in your mind." Sasuke eyes widened and for a moment his sharingan flickered off. "I got it!" Kabtuo looked at Sasuke with a confused expression, then looked at the sky in an attempt to see what Sasuke saw.
Sasuke began to think logically. My fire style and lightning style vary only slightly in form. Essentially they are of the same nature since both fire and lightning are plasma-classified states of matter. Sasuke made the hand-seals to perform a fire-style jutsu. "What's he doing?" Kabuto thought. "Fire Style-Dragon Flame Jutsu!" Sasuke shot the dragon flames into the sky.
At a certain altitude, the flames dispersed. "I don't get it", Kabuto said to Sasuke, "What's the point?" Sasuke merely said, "Watch and listen." As the two stood in silence, Kabuto noticed the change in atmospheric pressure. Clouds began to form in the sky and thunder began to roll. "He can't be--is he going to try something THAT crazy?" Kabuto thought watching on, "Sasuke this might not be a good idea!" "Maybe it isn't." Sasuke commented dryly.
Lightning began to flash as rain began to fall viciously in the surrounding area. "This isn't safe", Kabuto thought, "Sasuke we have to go inside!" "Trust me!" Sasuke said with an irritated tone.
There's no need to use the chidori here. I can see with my sharingan, the chakra from the previous fire jutsu lingers in the clouds, creating the friction between them and triggering the lightning. All that's left is the tame the dragon once and for all.
Sasuke gathered a very small amount of chakra in his left hand and raised it into the air. Kabuto's look of shock turned into a smirk, "This clever little bastard. I can see why Orochimaru-sama chose him." Sasuke became a rod for the chakra in this sky. The chakra from the fire had become lightning and was responding to the chakra from whence it came. The lightning struck Sasuke's hand. To Kabuto's further surprise, it wasn't harming him. Sasuke released the chakra back into the clouds, as a result, a small amount of lightning chakra remained pulsating from his left hand. Sasuke smirked. If I'm right about states of matter and chakra... Sasuke made a gesture with his hand, as if he was calling the lighting out. A bolt of lightning in the form of a dragon emerged from the clouds. I knew it! Kabuto looked on in awe, "This is...amazing!"
"Go!" Sasuke yelled. There was a flash that covered both of their vision. It only lasted for a fraction of a second, but when they could see again, it was a devastating sight. The trees were demolished, a large path of the forest had been cleared in an instant. It was absolute destruction. The most stumping part was that after a few seconds of observing the damage, the sun reappeared. "Looks like I only get one shot with this." Sasuke thought, "but as fast as that was, that's all I may need." Sasuke heard applause in the background. He looked back at Kabuto, who wasn't the one clapping. They both looked north. In the distance, they could see Orochimaru approaching the hideout. "Well well!" He said, "That was a quite impressive jutsu Sasuke. Mind showing me again?" Sasuke scoffed and started toward the hideout, "Maybe tomorrow." Kabuto and Orochimaru followed behind him, "But of course."
"By the way Sasuke", Kabuto said, "What do you call that jutsu?" Sasuke thought for a brief moment about the destructive power, yet subtle grace and speed of the jutsu. Very plainly he said, "This jutsu is called Kirin."
