The prodigious son of the Hidden Leaf's 'White Fang', Kakashi Hatake, leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. His emotionless black eyes made it obvious that he had no interest in the fight between Ebisu and Asuma taking place just below. The Sarutobi was a skilled shinobi, but due to his opponent being a clumsy pervert, Kakashi did not bother to watch despite his respect for Asuma.
It was not entirely due to boredom that the young genius isolated himself from his peers; his thoughts were heavy with methods he could use to better himself. He was concerned after his match in the preliminaries of the Chunin Exams with the expert taijutsu user, Guy. Kakashi had barely bested him. Everyone knew him to be the greatest of his generation,--in the Leaf, at least--and he did not want that to change. Guy always put up a good challenge, yet Kakashi could not make himself comfortable with how close their most recent fight was.
With cheers, insults, and grunts filling the arena, Kakashi was barely able to hear himself think. Fortunately enough, the ability to focus was another one of his many talents. Guy nearly defeated me. He shuddered at the thought. Weapon usage and taijutsu will no longer cut it. I've got to develop a new jutsu, and it must be A-rank. Otherwise, I will never become a Jon-
"Hey!" The kunoichi of his team, Rin Nohara, interrupted his internal monologue. Her hands clasped around the railing of the upper platform intended for the audience of the preliminaries to spectate from. "No need to be so worried. You won. That's what matters."
Kakashi's expressionless face suddenly appeared surprised. "You know me pretty well, I must say."
Rin smiled, and turned her attention back to the battle between Ebisu and Asuma. She hid her face in her dark brown so that Kakashi would not notice her flushed cheeks.
The other member of Minato Namikaze's team, Obito Uchiha, pouted. He regretted easedropping on their brief exchange of words. First, Kakashi beat Guy, who whooped my tail, and then he flirts with the girl of my dreams. When I awaken my sharingan, I swear I'm gonna wipe the floor with him!
Ignoring Rin's advice, Kakashi once again started comtemplating how to get stronger. This technique, it has to be swift and loud. Intimidation will be one of its attributes. Nothing has to be required to do it except for chakra, of course. Okay, now I just have to create it. Kakashi left the arena just as Asuma was named the victor, and Genma versus Anko was announced to be next. He was sure his absence would not get him into trouble, being that he had his fight already.

Alone in the training field used by many Leaf shinobi seeking to become stronger, Kakashi stood in its center. Not too long ago, his sensei noticed his affinity to lightning. Kakashi never felt like he needed to put it to use until now.
I remember hearing of the Third Raikage's ability to cover his body in lightning chakra...I wonder if I can do the same. Kakashi proceeded to exert chakra from every inch of his body, but to no prevail. Only a dozen sparks flew from his torso. He dropped to one knee, exhausted from the attempt. So, it seems as though I don't have enough chakra to do that. Well, thinking I could use the same technique as a Kage was foolish anyway. I'll try something rational.
Looking at his hands, Kakashi formulated an idea. He began to focus chakra to both of them. To his satisfaction, lightning chakra engulfed all ten of his fingers. This is good, but it's not enough. Instead of concentrating his efforts on both hands, he spent them just on his right one. Abruptly, a screeching sound that could have been mistaken for a thousand birds emerged from his right hand, which was then entirely covered in refined, electrifying chakra. As it was feeling a bit too overwhelming, Kakashi held his right wrist firmly with his left hand.
Yeah! This is what I need! And I should name it...Hmmm. How about... "Chidori!"
