Orochimaru without Edo is Kisame level; with Edo he is just below Itachi who is below Nagato and Obito.

Not stronger, no but I am pretty sure he is smarter. Levels are also based on intelligence. Nagato is one of my favourite characters, but in the end he was just used by Obito.

It would take too long to describe why you're wrong about everything. I'll say this though, Pain was never used, Konan and him knew exactly what Obito was up to, what he stood for and what his methods would end up doing to the world in the end. They worked with him only because of, Yahiko's death, the realisation that came from his death, that the only way to do something in the world they lived in, was to become its God and dictate.( Yahiko's dream)
