Since the end of the 4th Shinobi World War, Orochimaru hasn't changed that much.

-Immortality is still his goal, which it seems he's been succeeding at.
-He still works on cruel experiments, keeping children or clones of children locked up for study.
-He is responsible for the rise of Shin "Uchiha" and was formerly his master/teacher.
---This also may imply he stumbled across Obito's own laboratory, taking his bounty of Sharingan.
-Even Sasuke was suspicious of Orochimaru's intentions when they finally met up.

And neither Sasuke nor Naruto has done a thing to stop this. Konoha doesn't even have trust in Orochimaru

And now Konoha + Sasuke is going to remove a thorn in Orochimaru's side, one that he himself created.

Orochimaru is the same person he's always been, and Konoha is doing nothing to stop him.
Meaning he only has to wait until Naruto and Sasuke are dead, then there would be no one to stop him. In the mean time he could be rebuilding his army of followers, branding people with Curse Marks, etc.

So why would Naruto and Sasuke let him go unchecked?

so many people died after the 4th Shinobi war. now will it make any difference if they kill another fodder? basically they need every fodder to deal with this final villain kaguya was afraid of.

because what can you do to orochimaru? kill him? sasuke tried and he came back. seal him? itachi used the ultimate seal on him and he came back. maybe steal his jutsu and make him a normal human? well hiruzen tried that and orochimaru said "f*ck you ima read up on some history and get them back in 3 years".

they've tried to stop orochimaru and they cant so now they just keep it contained to not enslaving villages and just working on clones instead of actual people. plus yamato is keeping an eye on him.

orochimaru is to based to be stopped. in about 60 years naruto and sasuke will die and orochimaru will have truly perfected edo tensei so that he has full control of even hashirama and he'll have achieved true immortality.
