Orochimaru's Immortality: Explain it.

Can someone explain to me how orochimaru is immortal? I've never understood it. Yes he can switch bodies to prevent from dying, but he can also reconnect his body together after a fatal wound (oro vs 4-tail naruto)?? Then there's the spitting himself out with constant regurgitation... can someone explain this to me? What is oro's immortality consist of?

It is a number of forbidden jutsu and experiment on his own body that give him the ability. Oro is almost unstoppable because of this but like he stated in his fight with the fortails he can die( said if the tailed beast ball hit him even he would die.) he is not edo after all, but killing him would be difficult as he can recover from any damage done to his body most of the time. Even more than Hidan or tsunade.

The combination of Orochimau's living corpse reincarnation technique (body switching) and his immortality jutsu (shedding skin + reattaching body parts) is what is referred to him being immortal. With these two jutsus, Orochimaru cannot be killed by physical means due to the immortality jutsu and can take on a new body when the older one wears out with the living corpse reincarnation. It may not be true immortality, but it is the closest thing to it in the Naruverse.

Also Orochimaru's ability to be revived through his curse marks is another method of prolonging his life.

I believe it just comes down to the fact that he's found multiple ways to prevent death from attack as well as a series of different ways to prolong his life. It's just a series of death prevention techniques (being sealed into both Sasuke and having his chakra extracted from Anko), on top of another series of rebirth techniques (snake shedding, vomiting himself up etc.) It's no one jutsu that keeps him immortal.

in addition to what you said Orochimaru modfied his body to an extent that he can regenerate himself from most wounds (only he claimed that bijudama is a certain death) so he's like an amoeba (don't laugh it's just an example) can resist almost every thing

oro used his regen over and over again against kn4 naruto,he was half dead by that time,he healed from sasuke's attacks,he was on his death bed,i dont think chakra is a problem for oro.

bro oro is a MONSTER, i never said anything about how much chakra does he have coz he has a huge pool of chakra. all am saying is that his chakra is huge but limited and his regeneration tec takes chakra, so when he faced naruto (4tails) he stopped because he was weak at that time and needed a new body (not his normal chakra level), but even if he was healthy he would stop regenerating at some point coz it requires chakra but only top class ninja can push him this far when he is healthy U_U
