Orochimaru's arc will play a big role.

The three Legendary Sannins namely Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru lived their lives in their own way.

Jiraiya lived his life in the training the child of prophecy. And he finally found the child of Prophecy.
Tsunade became Hokage, a dream passed from her brother Nawaki and Lover Dan.
Orochimaru?

We still don't know what will be the fate of Orochimaru.
He had his subordinate Kabuto. But kabuto imitated Orochimaru and failed.
But Sasuke decided to walk a different path than Orochimaru. Orochimaru wants to see what will come out of Sasuke's destiny.
Orochimaru is still deciding what his purpose in this life is. Apart from "Knowing all the jutsus in this world" crap though.
He got a second chance to know his purpose through Sasuke.

There will be a huge plot staged for Orochimaru. After all, he is the only Sannin left without a purpose.

Would be a good plot twist, but I think the final villain IS Kaguya, and not Orochimaru. If it were orochimaru, everything from Part 1 would be repeated.. and wouldn't be as fun anymore :/

I didn't said that he'd be the FV. No one knows whether he'll stick to being a villain or a goody boy.
We still don't know his reasons to hate Konoha.

I hope you're right. I'm tired of Kishi making Oro a plot device; I want to see what's going on inside that snaky head of his! We still never saw his answer to Sasuke when asked about his true reason for attacking Konoha. Sigh, I can't seem to find the damn panel, I thought it was in 618 but I guess not.

If you asked me 4 years ago what is Orochimaru's part in the NV, I would say that his part was to be the ultimate Villain. Cold-hearted, but devilishly intelligent. Ready to sacrifice everything and everyone in pursuit of eternal life and jutsu. In other words - pure and perfect evil.

But seeing as how every villain in the NV is turning good (and yes that makes me puke rainbows) I doubt he has any major part to play other than be some filler character. Maybe he will leave the shinobi lands and go explore the rest of the world. Or hide in a cave somewhere.

He attacked Konoha on a whim, he said so himself. He has no real hatred towards Konoha and I doubt he would leave just because he wasn't chosen as the Hokage, he left because he was thrown out of Konoha for his experiments. He doesn't really seem to care for the Hokage title, nor does it seem like he did at any point. Orochimaru does not hate Konoha, or anyone. (Sure he has been mad at Hiruzen, but I doubt he hate him.)
