Orochimaru (spoilers for anime only people)

What the heck is he up to? He wasn't in the movie teasers. Kishi gave us a panel with Sasuke saying that he did have an unknown reason for attacking the leaf on the chunin exam. We also were shown him under infinite tsukuyome but we didn't see his desire. We are shown he's still active in Gaiden and the movie parallels attacking the hokage at the chunin exams. Thoughts?
