I'Be Realistic, he convince many orphan kids, special kids and many of them dedicated his entire life without question their loyalty with Orochimaru. He give them place, love and future. Most of them willingly die for Orochimaru, some very scared. Mitsuki praise his father cool guy, even cooler than Naruto and Sasuke. It true right? Orochi is the best father at least at the world of NV..

But how many would Oro die for? None.

Minato, Fugaku and Hizashi were all the kind of parents willing to die for the children, and that's what counts, not the other way around.

Well it's pretty easy to convince an orphan when you offer them a place to stay.

Why do you think Serial Killers are able to Serial Kill?

More so, Oro just took advantage of people who had no family, and nothing in life to do. Like Haku they were desperate for a purpose in life. So they weren't mentally stable and dedicated themselves to the 1st person who came along.

It's like controlling people who date desperate people with no self-esteem. They're usually doing it for their own sake, not the person they're dating. And someone with no sense of self-worth will be easy to manipulate.

Oro didn't care about any of his underlings. Mitsuki may be the 1 exception. But we don't know yet if Oro is and feels like a real father. Or, if he's just using him like the others.

Kind of like how Vegeta was a better father than Goku. I'm serious.

All Orochimaru is, is a master of brainwashing! Just like his true sensei Danzo Shimura and maybe Hiruzen if he was secretly evil or something.

From the kids' point of view; he was probably a splendid fatherly figure, a saviour even. He provided them shelter, a motive and a purpose, things they lacked when they were rejected by the world and yearned so much for. That's why they were willing to die for him without hesitation just so that they could serve said purpose and have a meaning to their life.
From Oro's point of view; they were tools, experiments material, and vessels he can benefit from :lol. This is clearly shown through Kimimaru's story.

Once I made a thread about Oro being not that bad of a guy, and that maybe his real reasons were to protect Konoha and make Sasuke stronger...which would mean that Oro is a great actor...I wasn't exactly true but I think there was more to this guy than what Kishi showed, so I think the idea is still interesting to be entertained about Oro's true reasons being to protect Konoha and make Sasuke stronger. It would also make Oro a true mastermind who planned all along to give his body to Sasuke, eventually leading Sasuke to change and bring back Orochimaru summoning the hokages and saving the day.
