THEORY:
Just as Itachi was shown to be an evil person, we only found that he did evil things but was working for the betterment of the Leaf Village.
Could this work with Orochimaru?
We're certainly seeing a different side of him recently. So, what if, Orochimaru had been striving for peace in the ninja world through his own, unorthodox methods?
We know his ultimate goal is to master all jutsu and never die. But have you really ever asked WHY he wants to do this? It could be he's just selfish, or...
He could want to use those abilities to bring peace to the ninja world! We've already seen villains, like Nagato, that desire peace through destruction. Maybe Orochimaru wanted to beat the ninja world into a submissive state, and order them to be peaceful?
I'm just spitballin' here. Anybody else's thoughts?
