1) easily top 10 among the living charachters
2) the only one (after madara)to unlock the secrets behind rinnegan
3) immortal, could watch over the village for generations
4) truly a genius, created many jutsus on his own.
5) been in and out of the village, ANBU,Akutski and on his own.


now alot of you will say naruto,or sasuke. Now consider it that they are both at age of 16-17? orochimaru far surpass them with experince and experince leads to wisdom.

indeed my thoughts exactly, Madara would have been a better hokage instead of hashirama, why would all the hokages need to "super good nice guys" It would add a twist to the next arc, considering orochimaru to be a really strong just like voldemort
