Orochimaru already made it clear a long time ago he only wants one thing, to posses and understand all the jutsu in the world and live forever. He has also made it clear that he has no interest in the war. He's suprsingly calm for someone who has Madara the 10 tails and obito waiting on the battlefield.

whos to say this wasnt his plan from the beggining to get his arms back, Orochimaru is smarter than itachi (not more talented) and itachi planned things down to the last detail as we seen in sasukes situation.. whos to say orochimaru cares enough to get involved

All i know is that oro will get screwed later cause he won't be able to control Minato due to the fact that he released kurama control under a sharigan user genjutsu and the same Technic can also be use to release him from oro. Minato is now an edo unstopable and untouchable as well.
