Orochimaru does NOT have sage mode (Proof)

after everything i've read so far in manga i found this precious page:

yes he is saying that they're no more his snakes, but without orochimaru knowing rationaly, it's implicite by the creator thoughts that orochimaru is going to turn into a dragon free to choose what he wants without henchmans and by growing up by himself. well i can be wrong but the all purpose of the naruto series is to believe in awesomeness and sorrow so i believe in this, because it's the right pass after what we've seen so far. And the creator is not toying with us because the story is too sincere, too transparent, that it could only feel like a misconception, if the creator starts to lie to himself. And he is not doing that, because orochimaru was drawn in this page with sincere eyes and not the malicious previous eyes of him.and yes i know too the other manga chapters that explains rationaly how orochimaru is not a dragon and it's true. But the outter truth is that he is going to be one, whether he's going to turn sage mode "dragon" of a sudden or by training.

Some excellent points made in this thread, well done. I too agree that Orochimaru does not have sage mode, we've basically seen the Dragon Sage through Kabuto and that was one of the last great battles in the war. Also I don't see much point in Orochimaru having sage mode especially since he's a "good guy" now. But your points were bang on! So this definitely settles it.

(the one here at the Base) was very poorly translated. Here's a proper/clear translation of that chapter. You can check the official and viz translations and you'll find that they'll basically say the same things as this one:
Oro was a sage, but he didn't master senjutsu. Just like Jiraiya. Jiraiya wasn't a perfect/true sage either but he could use sage mode. Naruto on the other surpassed Jiraiya by mastering Senjutsu and is thus a perfect/true sage. Its the same story with Oro and Kabuto. Kabuto surpassed Oro by becoming a perfect/true sage.

Thirdly...Why Orochimaru needed a suitable body for sage mode:

Everyone knows that using Sage mode has its issues when it comes to a real fight. Normally one needs to be completely dead still to absorb Nature energy. Thats normally Sage mode's weakness. Since you cant always sit still in a heated battle.

Jiraiya solved this "sitting still" problem by having Fukasaku and his wife absorb nature energy for him while he moved around freely in his fights. Naruto uses his clones. Of course, Oro and Kabuto obviously also faced this problem. And Oro discovered that Jugo's clan seems to absorb Nature energy without "sitting still". Kabuto used Oro's idea andsolved this problem by acquiring Jugo's abilty to absorb nature energy while moving. Thats why Kabuto incorporated Jugo's ability into himself. Oro was gonna do the same thing but first he had to find a body that was compatible with Jugo's ability. Surviving the curse seal equals compatibility.

The point is that Oro didn't need a compatible body [Sasuke] for Sage Mode itself(i.e. molding Senjutsu chakra). He needed it to acquire Jugo's ability which would allow him to absorb Nature energy without sitting still.

No, Im actually glad that Oro didnt succeed in getting the sharingan, cuz he just isnt smart enough to handle it, he‘d end up out of control and kills himself like Danzou, since it is a BLOODLINE LIMIT, it‘s something truely UNIQUE to a clan, and it‘s the most powerful one as well, so only Kakashi can ever slightly handle it due to his super IQ, so Oro is better off just stick to obtaining the perfect DSM, imho

Yes, Oro is a dumbass, and always made bad decisions, and overestimating himself, or undrestimating others, he was creative and a mad scientist, but never the smartest character in the series, not even close, he‘s definitely become smarter from experience now, and know better what‘s best for himself, I mean he only needs to perfectionize his DSM, on top of his huge pool of chakra and arsenal built up over decades, he‘ll be already powerful enough to be the final villain of the series, all shit upgraded, becomes the real deal, you can count my words
