First off I don't believe tobi is Madara in anyway shape or form. Let me explain my theory and you guys tell me what you think.
Time Line:
1) Madara survived his fight against the First hokage through the use of Uzanagi.
2) During the fight Madara collects Dna of the first but is either suffering from disease or suffers from a slow acting, crippling, fatal wound.
3) Madara combines his DNA with the firsts DNA to make the first true zetzu clone (most likely with the help of Orochimaru).
4) Nagato is either manufactured with Uchiha, Uzumaki clan, senju blood and is brainwashed or genjetsued to believe his parents where killed.
Or
4) he was gifted with his eyes through the works of madara in an unknown way.
5) Madara knowing he's going to die soon has Orochimaru Clone him with his memories intact with Zetzu cells creating a shell of his former self. This shell is unable to wield the true powers of madara because he's incomplete or incapable.
6) Tobi is this only a clone of madara but his mission is to make sure nagato uses his jitsu to reserect the once powerful, now dead, madara.
7) Orochimaru attempts to recreate a hybrid of madara's powers through Danzo who is his first and only subject.
note: also i believe the Uzumika were destroyed on danzo's or tobi's orders to cover up something.
The reason i've come to this conclusion is as followed.
-Orochimaru knows to much for his own good about tobi and madara.
-Tobi does not display the capablities of the once and powerful madara.
-Nagato is hinted to have been part of the grand plan to bring back madara.
-Tobi appears to be made up of zetzu cells.
-black/white zetzu appears to be a combination of senju & uchiha cells. He also seems to be aware of madara's original plans and is loyal to tobi's objectives.
