Kabuto control madara it was when itachi broke edo tensei that the edo's (every edo) where able to move freely for a short period of time before disapearing, it was durin that short time that madara use a seal to break himself. If itachi didn't break edo tensei madara would not have the chance to free himself.

Edo tensai is a s-rank jutsu. Being so, i predict that the controller (orachimaru) will have difficulty controlling this technique. He could erase their personality like kabuto has but would it work on some on like tobirama who created the jutsu. Besides, no jutsu is perfect.
