And why couldn't he actually?? Btw his eyes weren't covered, he simply used the snakes vision. Even Sauke was aware of this, thus prepping for Oro. I agreed on Itachi's sword being being an issue, tho we don't know of its speed usage.

From what we have seem from Orochimaru (which isn't everything) the abilities he possess presents him as a foe.
Because he didn't master the Ryuu Sennin Modo. Unlike your assumption, he did not use any kind of snake-vision but covered his eyes indeed, with a special snake-cornea.

If at all, he could use it in his white-snake form, whose offensive strength is rather unimpressive, though. However, cutting that form to pieces like would be a perfect opportunity for Totsuka no Tsurugi, again.

Even if we disregard Genjutsu, Itachi has various more options to create openings. As I said, a Karasu Bunshin might be enough, considering how it even fooled Kabuto, despite his perceptional abilities. Cutting Orochimaru with a Susanoo blade can also be enough. As we saw on various occasions, Orochimaru hardly dodges but mostly relies on his rebirth technique. I agree that Orochimaru likely has more tricks up his sleeve, but for now he's very well vulnerable to Genjutsu, including Tsukuyomi, Itachi's brilliant feints and, of course, Totsuka.

I thought it was obvious. Juugo says that it's originally called Sennin transformation. It is what allowed Kabuto to transform into a snake/dragon, and therefore using the cornea.

Nothing implies that Orochimaru can do such a thing, too.

As I said, even if he could, Genjutsu is not Itachi's only option to create an opening, here. As you didn't counter the rest of my points, I take it you acceptet Orochimaru's defeat.
