Its funny you mention this, I just watch Lee vs Garra lat night and thought how his strive to beat the gifted reminded me of Oro and Kabuto so much

That's not so true, Rock Lee is completely untalented and has only willpower.
Orochimaru was extremely talented, let's say that Oro could be the Hokage if he wanted and Lee will never be no matter how hard he will train.

Their talents strand from similar beginnings. Lee is a genius, just not what we would normally label as actual intellect. They both had no specific talent, yet was able to craft something and make it their own. They envied the gifted, those given gifted abilities from birth.

also rock lee is so underrated he is hella fast and strong look what he did for edo madara
something the 5 kages combined didn't do it
