Orochimaru > acid

People are under the impression that Katsuyu's acid can kill Orochimaru. I am going to offer another view of things. And that view, is that Orochimaru was lying.

Orochimaru attempts to get the point across that he doesn't want to hurt anybody. He tries to calm Katsuyu down.

I have no reason to believe you!!
Katsuyu obviously doesn't trust him.

Again, he's trying to calm the situation down. What should he have said, "silence slug or I'll kill you"?
No, I don't think so. He wanted Katsuyu to feel unthreatened.

Orochimaru just said that Katsuyu could end his entire existence. I guess Orochimaru somehow forgot about these guys,

Ya know, the gateways back into the world once he's "dead".

And later on in that same exact chapter he even implied the only way he can be put down is through sealing, that he can't be killed.

So, if you want to take Orochimaru's words up front without giving a single thought to the situation or what Orochimaru was doing, that's fine. But there's no denying that Orochimaru could have been lying.

There may actually be some truth in Orochimaru's statement. Looking back at the Sannin battle, Orochimaru and Manda were cautious enough to dodge Katsuyu's acid first hand than anything. [

Furthermore, I also think its the case of if Orochimaru were to take a direct hit from such attack. As shown against Naruto's 4th tail before, he wasn't too keen on tanking such a concentrated hit. [

However like you said it also could be Orochimaru merely trying to keep Katsuyu in control and calm as he's manipulative like that.

If you want to deny his words (For whatever reason) then we can move on to logical thinking. If Acid hits his whole body, his whole body melts away and that's it.
