Anyone else think he did a poor job on manipulating them? Or was Kishi unaware at the time that the 1st has so many abilities that he didn't think about adding until later on... Assuming he didn't think he would get another season (past a certain amount of episodes.)

It begs the question: does the Edo caster require knowing (in advance) the abilities of the revived person, otherwise they might as well be Sasorii puppets...

Also, say if Oro did indeed know what he was capable of - is it a simple matter of thinking "use 1000 hands jutsu" (forgot the name of it lol.) Becuase we also have an unknown here... How are we too know Kabuto knew abilities of dead ninja... Then we come back to Oro... Following that same logic - should he not automatically know all the Jutsu Hashi/Tobirama knows...? Or only the stuff written down... Hmmm!

It's manga fact that they were much weaker the first time they were summoned:

I believe it's the second point of yours because otherwise that matchup between hashirama and madara wouldn't make sense because hiruzen was supposedly the strongest kage

If the caster of Edo Tensei does not remove their personality, then the Edo can use all their abilities that they died with. Otherwise, the caster would be in direct control of their actions.

He did not think that far ahead.
He failed and had to fix his error.

He had to control their movements and the edos were weaker back in part 1..that's what made them look fodder.

Do not speak kishi as you know him. He had already protrayed Hashirama and Tobirama as better shinobi then the 3rd and the 4th hokage.. and any other shinobis to exist in the village.

They weren't at full power in part 1, and Hiruzen was old already. It was a geriatric combat at best.
