The reason I think oro wanted a uchiha body was so he could do to himself what madara had done with him. The sharigan works best with an uchiha body anyway. It's probably what suigetsu found on that scroll in oro old hideout.

Yea that's what I meant. Because when oro was about to take sasukes body kabuto said that if it was to happen the whole world would bow to him. I know uchihas are strong but I'm sure that him just having the sharigan wouldn't be THAT strong unless he already knew how to creat the rinnegan

Orochimaru became obsessed with the Sharingan because of the time he spent with Itachi. He saw Itachi's proficiency with the Sharingan and tried to attack him while still with Akatsuki. It was only after this that Orochimaru began researching into the Sharingan and seeking out Sasuke.

Exactly. Oro did experiments on a lot of people so there's no way he wouldn't have uncovered the sharigans true potential

Yeah, its a fact that Orochimaru came up with the theory that the ems could progress to the rinnegan. So that's why he wanted Sasuke, to become the new sage of six paths.

Another reason is that the sharingan and especially the rinnegan would allow him to master all jutsu and become the ultimate being.
