Original 3rd squad captain.

As stated there have been known so far to be four squad 3 captains starting I this order
- retired unknown
- rojuro otoribashi
- gin Ichimaru
- shusuke amagai filler

Now with the info from latest chapter's we know that unohana is the original kenpachi. Which leads me to think that the retired squad 3 captain was also an original captain. There are little hints as to why this may be true in the way kubo writes.
- squad 3 always has the most captain changes
-squad 3 has always seen the. Most despair ie gin and izaru both being slaughtered.
- squad 3 now this is a theory the original probly held the title for so long that he will make an appearance I say this because of everything that happened so far he will be pissed right off and possibly come back to help in some way.

Now I have also had suspicion before that isshin could have been squad 3 original captain but yet again the only reason why this fails is because nobody said a word about isshin to ichigo so we can only assume what he was really apart of. And the only way a person could retire is well probly great years of service or losing his power's.

I still feel that squad 3 original captain is an unknown until we get more hints.none of zero squad said anything to rojuro When the zero squad was introduced rojuro who took over for the squad three captain when he retired. So it isn't a zero squad member either.

Maybe but Squad 11 had the most captians:10. To become a 11th squad captian you must defeat/kill the previous Kepachi. Kenpachi Zaraki is the 10th Kenpachi.

That's a good point!!! It works for me! Guess he'd fit the pattern of having more to him than what first appears similar to how Gin was as double agent (Isshin hid his Shinigami heritage)...though he may not be the origional!

Yes they have had the most captains because of their way of getting to be captain. Most defeated the previous but maybe not all.

I believe isshin was indeed the previous 3rd division... lieutenant. That captain retired, and he went on to royal guard.

I agree, we can't know the previous 3rd Squad Captain as of yet. I suppose it being an original Captain is possible, but we can't assume that either. Over a thousand years would have passed by that point so there could have been a bunch of other previous Captains that we don't even know about. For example, Hikifune was promoted and left the Gotei but she wasn't an original Captain.

That doesn't make sense. If Isshin was a member of the Gotei 13 back then, then Shinji would have recognized his reiatsu. He didn't:
