Opinions on Sakura?

THIS IS NOT A BASH THREAD. I'm just giving my opinions and evaluating her as a character. Sorry if there is already a section for this type of stuff, I don't know the site that well.

To begin I think Sakura is pretty admirable. Like somebody said, she's the only one in team 7 (bar Sai lol) who got all her power from training. She's always looking to better herself which is cool.

The bad thing is that I don't feel that she's had much significant character development throughout the series. To me it always felt that despite being a main character, she was mostly there to give Sasuke more mention. Most of the significant things she did was for the sake of Sasuke besides fighting Sasori and such.

Another thing that I didn't feel to strongly about is her "love" life. It's not the fact that she doesn't choose the guy who really likes her, would do anything for her and always listens to her, but the fact that she has no reason to like Sasuke at all. It's understanding if Sasuke showed subtle signs of caring for her, but it's the exact opposite. I could say that until a few chapters ago, he most likely despised her. As far as our conclusion goes, the only reason we can tell that she loves him is solely because of his looks which is extremely one-dimensional for a character with so much more potential for a love interest.

I think it's cool that Sakura did everything in her power to save Sasuke from the other dimension. I also don't hold it against her that she isn't "helping" in the fight against Kaguya like most people think. She already did enough on her part by retrieving Sasuke. She just isn't meant to fight a god, that doesn't mean she's "fodder" either. She's one of the strongest female characters in the series; she surpassed Tsunade who is the Hokage, so Sakura is also far from weak.

Nothing to say about her Honestly... I personally find her very...Meh.

Most of the females aren't that interesting in this series because they have no goals other than to make love. Non of them (apart from maybe Konan) have a deep backstory so I don't really feel invested

I don't care what people say, I like her. She may not be the strongest shinobi, but she makes up for it by being one hell of a medic. She's healed Naruto numerous times, and if it wasn't for her, Sasuke would still be trapped and Kaguya would have won.

I actually like her as a character i only hated her in part 1 but part 2 shes actually awesome, if you compare her to part 1 she actually did develop and improve U_U

It is true that Kishi has tried to give Sakura some developments but they are not enough. As we can see now that despite being one of the strongest female characters, she has done the only thing important is bringing back Sasuke. And that too was I think was a give-away from Kishi.
But we know his feelings for Sasuke have changed as well. She is not "obsessed" now. Though she may seem not quite helpful in present war(which showed the 5 Kages to be helpless too) but we know she has an important role. So as conclusion: she is not useless.

I love her, but yeah, you have valid points. Like I mentioned in a thread about female characters the other day, Kishi's problem isn't with creating interesting female characters, it's with actually including them to be relevant to the story and therefore the potential gets wasted.

There was that one interview Kishi did where he said he would write about Kakashi, Sasuke, and Naruto and when asked about Sakura, his response was something like "Well... I forgot about her..."

Your fourth paragraph is spot on. Sakura is the most annoying character in the series imo. Her personality rustles my jimmies. She has become more tolerable as of lately, but her ridiculous past antics make me dislike her. She'd be better as a side character. Sakura has far too little depth and development to be a decent main character in my eyes.

But how could she be as good as Naruto and Sasuke? Naruto has his kyuub(all beasts now),Sasuke his sharingans(rinnegan now) there is no way to make her so good...she is a great support thats all...
