Is the real reason the Uchiha were defeated by the Senju and are now virtually extinct is because they are what some would call a "One Trick Pony"?

One-Trick Pony:
someone with only one talent,

The Uchiha's only talent seems to stem from their Sharingan. With Sharingan an Uchiha can skip the most basic and rudimentary skills of being a shinobi. They can copy ninjutsu, read hand seals, copy taijutsu, read body movements, and see through genjutsu etc. This might look good on paper but it really just reveals why the Uchiha were inferior to the Senju. The Senju had to work hard. They had to invent their own jutsu, fight using their own taijutsu, break genjutsu with standard methods and lacked the precognition and all the other abilities the Uchiha had. The Senju had a strong foundation and you know if your foundation is not strong everything built upon it will crumble.

Take Tobirama Senju for example. He is what some would call a "Jack of all trades"

Jack Of All Trades:
A person who appears to be very skilled at a great deal of different tasks,

So, the Uchiha can virtually become well crafted shinobi because their Sharingan literally gives them all basic shinobi skills: They can copy the nin-tai-genjutsu of shinobi they fight, see chakra color, see through genjutsu, precognition etc etc. The Senju became well crafted shinobi by creating their own techniques, training hard, inventing their own styles etc.

So. The Uchiha's only talent and power seems to be from Sharingan and that is probably a reason why the Senju defeated them all the time. Yes or No?

Most Uchiha did not even have sharingan. Those that did obviously focused on training that more than anything else. This thread is ridiculous. Tobirama is the only Senju shown to have been creating jutsu, so that point is beyond invalid Lol

One trick ponies? Amaterasu the best ninjutsu one hit kill. Tsukuyomi can be one of the best genjutsu by itachi can be one hit kill and can get a susannoo that can have a perfect defense so that's three more than one

There were only two notable senju, maybe 3 if you count tobi and hashi's father.

But the Uchiha were all noticeable geniuses. Like Itachi and Sasuke who mastered elemental jutsu at a young age

Your assessment of the Sharingan is correct, but it doesn't make the Uchiha seem like one-trick ponies. They can perform many jutsu, have strong chakra, and even have their unique traits (Mangekyou techniques, powerful fire-style). The S jg aringan is not merely "one trick."

Katon is in their blood. Its not something they would have to train for and get the nature. They are born with the blood for Katon like how Sarutobi clan members are.

And because of that the Uchiha had much higher standards. Sasuke had to put a lot of effort into training just to get it up to an acceptable level for his age.

I agree but when he unlocked Sharigan it was sort of like a gift and a curse. Relying on it weakened all his natural abilities.

I'd say that without the sharingan, of the Uchiha's we've seen, most would still be powerful...

probably Jonin level or Hokage...

but having the Sharingan or the Rinnegan is a requirement for top ten material...

Naruto is the exception...

I kind of agree with op. The sharingan is like a cheat code. If an average Uchiha awakens their sharingan in their pre teens, early teens. It's obvious that they would focus more on developing their sharingan than their physical strengths. Lee said it best "What's the point in being able to see me if you body can't react to my movements"
