You are somewhat on the right track for releasing the genjutsu, but remember you have to be clear and descriptive on how you figure out that it is an illusion and how you dispel it, also if the user of the illusion says that it blocks your vision, then it does, you can say that it doesn't block your vision completely, I will post the way that I would do it for you to understand how you should go along with illusions in the future, just to help you get on the right path.
PS: I was killed with this technique in my first fight as well that is why I used it on you to see how you would react to it Lol.
As I stare intently at Darui I come to notice that he dissolves into a random shower of sakura petals which appear out of nowhere and proceed to block my vision, I then make an attempt to wipe them from my face but come to realize that there actually isn't anything on my face at all, yet my vision is still being blocked off, Knowing already that these flower petals couldn't just appear out of no where as well as block my vision, where it is clear that I cannot feel anything covering my face, I come to the conclusion that its an illusion, I then swiftly lift my hand to my mouth and take a bite out of my right thumb, the pain caused by this action would then release me from the illusion, I then notice Darui throwing a kunai directly towards me and I simply grab hold of a kunai of my own and throw it directly at the incoming kunai, causing it to be thrown off its original path and away from myself.

Seeing Sasuke form an orb of water above him, Darui gets ready to counter what seems to be a dangerous technique, the whips of water then emerge from the orb and start making its way to attack Darui, Darui then performs a sequence consisting of five hand seals whilst gathering his wind chakra, he then releases the wind chakra in the from of a large wind net which easily slices threw the water whips, cancelling it out and continuing towards Sasuke.
