✦ Terrain: Barren clearing at dusk. The world tree can be seen burning in the distance.
This was not what he intended for them to do when the two first set out on their journey, yet Kotetsu could do nothing but watch as the roots of the Great Tree were severed by his companion. He considered the man his closest friend, yet it seemed as if he truly knew nothing about him. An act such as this was against his ideals, against everything he stood for. Why then? Was he fed up with the world? And if that was the case, was it Kotetsu's role to do the dirty work? To succumb to the corruption? He would never have done something like this of his own accord, which meant that it was for the sake of another. But who's? Zi-Rosen? Or was it for that woman?
Regardless, the Inuzuka could do nothing but watch as the pillar of their world was burnt and turned to ash, it's leaves falling from their branches like rain. As it burned a sound akin to screeching permeated the air, and no matter how far he retreated from the tree he could not escape it, nor did it ever grow quieter. So this...Was the death of a God. The ground beneath him shook occasionally as burning ether bled from the chasm, stealing away what little light there was, and as it escaped the planet died around it.
The haze that was created from the burning of the tree wasn't so strong now, but Kotetsu could no longer tell where it ended. Perhaps it had already consumed him. Perhaps, they were all already doomed. His companion, who he could barely see due to the distance between them, seemed to be holding his ground against the unknown entity that had appeared once the Great Tree's roots were severed, but he couldn't focus on just that at the moment. Soon others would be coming. Coming to make them pay for what they had done. But he'd promised...Yes. He swore back then that no matter what, he'd always remain by his side. After all, their fates were intricately intertwined.
