There was a still silence in the forest. Insects traversed up and down the trees while birds landed on the branches, picking at the bugs for food. It was nature as it was meant to be. The silence broke at the sound of a tree branch creaking. A single bird on a tree branch abruptly flew away from its feast and narrowly avoided being stepped on. Saizo had been leaping from tree to tree, the only disruption to the serenity in nature. Each branch he landed on creaked slightly from the pressure of his body. Narrow sources of light that passed through the leaves of the trees shined on his eyes as he was moving. A good amount of time had passed, evident by the sound of Saizo's stomach growling, breaking the silence even more. He motioned his hand over his stomach and then back away from it. He continued moving forward. The sound of his movement quieted as his distance increased. The bird went back to the branch and returned to it's supper.
The light in front of Saizo within the forest was getting brighter. He was approaching the edge of the forest. He calculated the remaining distance in his head. When he reached his window, he pressed harder on the last branch he'd step on and pushed against it. He leaped out of the forest into an open terrain. Standing with his hands on his hips, Saizo briefly looked around. There was a distinct separation of where the forest began and ended. As he stood on the outside of the forest, Saizo noticed a town in the direction he was moving. He couldn't tell from where he was that the town was abandoned. He placed his hand on his stomach again and moved towards the town.
The closer he approached the town, the more curious it became to him. It was like the forest. Silent. The day was still young, yet no voices could be heard and no sounds from work being done. Upon getting a closer look, the town was rundown. Cracks on the road, dead plants, worn down buildings filled the town. And not a soul to inhabit it. He continued walking and stopped in front of a building with it's entire front wall missing. Stepping in, he saw that it was a restaurant. He scoped the room nonchalantly. His eye caught something. He reached into his pouch and pulled out a kunai and held it up in a prepared stance. It was a surprise to him that anyone would be here. He couldn't tell if the lady used to live in this town or was just another passerby like himself. She stayed seating though. Saizo eased his nerves and placed the kunai back and took a relaxed stance.
"So what brings you to these parts?" he said casually before making his way to the bar.
