You know the special episodes, episode of Merry, Episode of Nami Episode of Sabo etc. Are those considered Canon by the majority of fans or not?

Basically, all of 'em are recaps so it should be canon. But in case of Sabo's POV in Dressrosa and 3D2Y Special, I would put 'em as... non-canon. Like, ya know, Oda would draw all those extras if they're considered canon/relevant to the manga, just as how he deems it when it comes to Shiki's flashback (he draws Episode 0 for that guy because he couldn't find any suitable moment to insert it in current timeline). Besides, they didn't say Oda oversees all that (aside certain movies), except the fact that he's always been informed of such special episodes to be produced.
I couldn't help but think that he gives his consent over the animator's ideas as long as it didn't harm the storyline much. He used to say he tend to leave it to Toei if we're talking about OP anime, unless for a few things.

Some are, some aren't. I didn't see the full ep of Sabo, but I wouldn't say that scene where he's sitting eating squid with Koala on the day the Strawhats is canon.

No me either I thought he got there after Luffy and co based on the manga but I was mainly looking for some opinon on Ace's showing in the episode. They recap some MF moments and in it they have Ace push back Aokiji's Pheasant Beak attack(which isn't his strongest but it's got a name and is one of his finishers in the Pirate Warriors games so it's a fairly strong attack) and this is after suffering at ID and being shackled to Sea Stone cuffs all day. I know people don't like to give Ace credit for being strong anymore but I like to think Oda still does especially with the new bounties and all(I know they're not actually reflective of strength)
