It wasn't forced.Both Naruto and Sasuke grew up alone so they naturally understand each other,and can relate to one another.

They became part of team 7 where they bonded,got to know each other,trained together,fought together,saved each others lives,etc and were rivals.

We also find out from Naruto,and Sasuke themseleves that they always looked up to each other but didn't open up to each other.
