Remember when Madara appeared, used the energy armour and rampaged against fodder?
Now that moment was supposed to hype him up, with the 2nd TK exclaiming about the armour heing brought out.
However, looking at it, all he did was aggressively use the same armour that Sasuke himself had already shown, so what could be so special about it that the same Tsuchikage who had almost wasted Sasuke would exclaim as he did? Remember, he spoke of the energy armour, not simply Madara himself.
For a long time, i thought it was simply the authors making the Uchiha look good as often they did in part 2 - Itachi vs Orochimaru and Nagato, Sasuke vs Deidara and Orochimaru being other examples of exaggerated hype moments.
However, it could be that only a reanimated Uchiha can use it aggressively like that. Why?
To answer that, we must look at several things.
Firstly, how does the reanimation state work? It basically heals any incurred damage. Damage would be anything that reduces capability when compared to their summoned condition. These would be energy and physical structure. These two heals allow anyone to take chances they couldn't as a living person, such as Deidara blasting himself and Haku mincing the alliance. Of course, the lack of natural feeling reduces body-based performance compared to the lving version. More on this later
Secondly, how does the chakra armour work? In this context, it emits chakra from the body, somehow. I say this because Sasuke felt extreme pain when using it. More on that later. The point is, the pain is very strong, to the point where Sasuke would grimace and whince while in the company of the Gokage.
But what does that mean. Well, pain disrupts concentration, hence the illusions counter method of biting yourself. We know this works not only by logic (try playing chess while trying to break a finger, you'll see) but by the illusions counter and definitely because there is a technique moulded on this principle. Kabuto uses White Rage specifically to disrupt energy control through pain.
Now for the Sasuke extension. With the above confirmation that pain disrupts control, it means and explains why living Uchiha have never properly rampaged with their armour. They are in too much pain to move freely. The gaining of the EMS only prevents blindness. It was never stated to stop the pain. This idea is backed up by the lack of rampages.
I mean, imagine if they could freely rampage. Madara would never have struggled against the Thousand Hands, because he would have just flown and used continuous swings to beat the thing. So from that, ut seems likely that he couldn't rampage. Him getting Kurama and instead covering him in armour backs this, as Kurama could move freely on his own. Likewise Orochimaru would never have been so confident that he could casually draw out his Longsword while Itachi had the armour active, unless he knew - being the intelligence master - that Itachi could not rampage and shred him to bits. So by occurences and showings, it seems the Uchiha - who normally get every personal advantage in fights - actually can't go rampaging with the armour.
But how does being reanimated solve this? Well, there is good logic but Madara himself makes it easier to explain. Starting with the logic, pain is an impediment so the state should automatically heal it. Functionally, pain happens with signal sent to the brain, with the aim of getting healing to the hurt parts. So since the state heals automatically, there is no need for the signals. Going with Madara, he himself stated he can't feel pain as a reanimation, hence his joy of being revived.
And of course, there is the energy refilling. So if the cost of maintraining the armour was an issue, the refills would cover it and allow for free spending of energy. This is why a Haku who was previously tired to the point of even kid Sasuke tracking him could continuously wreck the likes of entire troops and react to blindsides from both Lee and Gai. He now had the energy to continuously use his teleportation without tiredness.
So all in all, a reanimated Uchiha can use the armour without cost in energy, pain (concentration) or anything else that would nornally hold them back. This is seen when Kabuto uses White Rage and Itachi easily defends, even moving around to cover Sasuke.
Otherwise, a living MS user can mostly only do simple movements like blocking or striking, as we saw.
