You should start at the beginning, if you absolutely can't than start at either Loguetown, Arabasta or Water 7
But if you do that without the intention of later watching what you skipped you shouldn't really get into it
But I highly recommend starting at the beginning because even if you find it slow it will affect how you see later arcs
If you want to only get into the big battles that would be like skipping lotr till the battle of the pellenor fields which would lose most of its significance if you skip the story
PS one piece is imo (which is shared by many ppl who read all 3) best of the big 3
There is one thing you could do though, try watching the post marineford arc flashback about luffy and his childhood before you watch marineford, it will make the war much more emotional
