Sanji was trying to protect the marines also he did more damage and luffy's rival is coby and still that doesn't mean he is in his league also don't forget how he was ownd by law who is barely stronger than luffy

No he wasn't the Marines had escaped by the time Sanji was fighting Vergo if that's the case then Smoker was protecting the marines when he was fighting Law.

Luffy's marine rival is Coby? Tell me when he does something relevant to put him as that status so far Smoker has been the one chasing Luffy throughout the Grandline.
