Am I the only one who felt that the pacing was taken up a few notches? I mean I really did not expect Luffy and Law to reach DD within this chapter. Also we got Sugar taken out and more ussop development. Man this chapter had great story progression, pacing, anticipation, and hype. I wish that Oda kicks the pace up more often

This weeks chapter?

Edit: thought only naruto came out...

Ya, Ofa really dragged it out.

Like ten pages of Ussops sniping, and it turned out to be a disappointing running gag attack.

Completely agree, this is one of those chapters where I enjoy the full thing, and we haven't had one of those for a while ;)

People said that the "slow chapters" we've gotten recently was because of Oda's new editor. It is odd that the pacing has felt slower ever since he got his editor, I'm glad it's better this week even by OP standards.

One of the best chapters we've had. That guy above said Oda dragged it out with ten pages of Usopp sniping, I thought it was perfect. It reinforces the facts that:

1. Usopp's intelligence more than makes up for his lack of might. It wasn't his superiors, Law or Luffy, that knocked out Sugar, it was Usopp, the weakest and the coward. Just goes to show Oda hasn't come close to forgetting his point that each Strawhat does some kind of role to their strengths

2. It shows Usopp's brilliance. While not as smart as Nami or Robin, it shows that Usopp was able to accurately make that long process work, as well as build up to the Doffy fight a bit more.

I loved the chapter.

It's gonna get better. I like this time's pace, it seems a bit slow but there's a big impact, and giving out the fast feel. The dice is thrown once again. The lead bullet was a great concrete hint on Law's weakness (though Oda had already pictured this since PH).

Also Usopp's way of asking help from Violet's and Kanjuuro's df powers to protect Luffy was brilliant, not to mention that as he got CoO on the spot, he sniped with careful calculations and taking accounts various elements which may affect his long-range shot; the wind speed, mass of the 'bullet' etc.
Good job, Odacchi. Keep on with your pace, haters just gonna hate but we're with ya.

I think the lead bullet was a way to demonstrate how much Doffy looked down on Law, he didn't even use Seastone bullets on him.

No, this is classic OP pay off.

The slow chapters are needed to get to the goodness.

Introduction+Flashbacks+Set-up = pay-off

this is basically how every manga works, but Oda does it best.

I always get annoyed when people start complaining about flashbacks, it's the thing that makes One Piece good. It's worth it in the end because you emotionally invested in the arc and characters.

Think about how many fights are going on right now, that will all be settled in the next 10 weeks or something. That is the awesome part where all the slow chapters were good for.
