One Piece Question?

The main question that I have: Is One Piece a good series and is it worth my time? Looking for opinions and comparisons.

I'm not one to read or try to read something new until its recommended to me... And surprisingly, none of my friends has recommended this series... But I constantly hear it being referred to as one of the big 3...

Anime/Manga (Series) What I have completed... (Name/Rate 1-10)

Naruto - 9
Bleach - 7
Dragonball - 8
Inyuyasha - 8
Yu-Yu-Hakusho - 7
Zoids - 7
Gundam - 7
High School Of The Dead - 9
Death Note - 9
Trigun - 7

I have not completed these but I also have a interest in Wolf's Rain, Claymore, & Rurouni Kenshin...


Use these as a basis for what you think I would think about One Piece...

P.S. - I know that reading it and trying would be the simple answer... But I'm a very busy person. That's why I'm looking for guidance from people with similar tastes...

All my opinion ^_^ One Piece is the best anime I've ever watched, and I recommend it.

You're referring to my list, right?
As I said, it's my opinion, and I think One Piece deserves a 10 U_U Plus I just mentioned some of the anime I've seen, and I picked out some of the best ^_^ There's animes I would give 1 and 2.

One Piece is the best out of the big 3 imo. you should give it a chance, but it's almost 600 episods to catch up, and unless you begin with the manga, you'll have to expend too much time on the episodes but it's worth it.

Bleach - started as an 8 then dropped to a 7
Dragonball - 7 for legendary status
Inyuyasha - 6
Yu-Yu-Hakusho - 9.2
Zoids - 7
Gundam - 6
High School Of The Dead - haven't watched yet.
Death Note - 9.3
Trigun - 7

I personally like how One Piece isn't recommended as much as Naurto or others. I believe you should watch it if you have the time to and if you are not judgmental on the series and trying to compare series. Just enjoy the series for what it is. If you want a quick test to see if you will like the series, I recommend watching "Nami episode tears of a navigator and the bonds of nakama". it is a 2 hour special summarizing one of the main arcs in the beginning of the series the Arlong Arc. A lot is left out to fit it all in but it does a great job telling the story with the latest animation.

I think watchop has it, should be in the movie section.

If you don't like it, don't watch the rest, don't force yourself to watch it. Just know as the series goes on, it gets better and better.

Some other anime recommendations I did not see on your list that I find also good.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood - 9.5
Code Geass - 9.5
Samurai Champloo - 9.3

Those are the others in my top 5, Death Note(which you mentioned above) being 5 and One Piece being 1.

This is exactly why I asked... Because I ALWAYS start with the manga and go through it to the current chapters... Then I sit and watch the anime until I'm all caught up... I figured it was pretty far along... But I don't know...

Just looking at the way they draw it and what few clips of the anime that I have seen in AMV's, kind of draws me away... Because they make it look so childish... I don't know...

I highly recommend HOTD - It's short, sweet, and it kicks ass...

I tried FMA... But lost interest very quickly...

tbh if you really placed Inyuyasha and DBZ as the same rating Im not sure what to say exactly lol, if Inyuyasha is a 8 to you then One Piece will literally break your scale. Inyuyasha was only a good childhood show I liked but not for story.

Believe the childish part is more on the beginning, as the story advances, it is still funny but not very childish, they grew up so to speak. seriously give it a try, the humor is awesome, specially when a certain musician joins the crew.

Yeah, luffy is such an dumbass at first ._. in attitude. I wanted to punch him a few times just like nami did to him and zoro when they acted stupid xd but it's a good show.

yeah i didn't like luffy much at first, but then after arlong arc, he had gained my respect.

If you have Naruto and Death note on 9 then One piece is literally off the charts.

I mean death note went downhill the moment L died. Naruto was good in the first part and the shippuden side was good but it was expected to be better. While One piece in 11 years of airing has never disappointed its readers.

So yeah, I have seen a large number of people saying the drawing is childish, believe me I felt the same. But the moment you get used to it, It's the perfect anime out there. There is no comparing it.
