{One Piece} Question about Mihawk

Question: How did Mihawk claim the title for "World's Strongest Swordsman"? I mean, He used to battle with Red-Haired Shanks back in the day, right? but Shanks is stronger than Mihawk? and plus, there are probably people in the New World who surpass Mihawk's swordsmanship .... right?

Well from what I 've seen in the marineford arc he is really strong...And he didn't go all out my guess.So I don't know if there are others who are stronger than him...

Nah I doubt anyone In the new will surpass mihawk except zoro. Plus even if shanks is stronger it doesn't make Hume the better swordsman.

IMO it's because Mihawk is without a crew. Sure, Shanks is stronger than Mihawk but his Haki capabilities are one of the best in the entire manga. Mihawk is swordsman to the core, he has no crew, no nothing. Just straight swordsman skills. Shanks has a crew, thus being a way bigger threat Mihawk could ever be.

I'm probably wrong but it's a possibility.

mihawk is definately the strongest swordsman bar shanks , but shanks is recognised as a yonkou , which kinda takes away the feat of strongest swordsman , which means mihawk is recognised as worlds strongest

You can't really compare with Shanks. All they did was spar, and I highly doubt Shanks is a swordsman. He is most likely more skilled with something else.

Shanks can fight with more then just swords, he has other skills that are not really swordmanship per say. If it was Shanks vs Mihawk in a pure Sword fight, Mihawk would win more then likely. Shanks is stronger because of these other skills + his swordmanship.

No. Miwawk is the best becuase of his great swordsmanship. Also because his got one of the best swords out there. I don't see normal swordsmen attacking people with swords but without touching them like this:

& only zoro has this power, only after getting taught by Mihawk himself..

Mihawk IS the best swordsman in the world and will be until Zoro defeats him. Shanks sparred with Mihawk (when he had 2 hands) and even then there's nothing suggesting Shanks was a better swordfighter.
So right now with one hand he doesn't stand a chance against Mihawk in a swordfight
