Naruto is coming to an end very soon, while Oda will continue to pump out awesome chapters for many years to come.

I am haven't found many animes that are quite like Naruto. One Piece is okay if you are into childish mischievousness but not something I would follow religiously like Naruto.

read them both fully and i have to say i like both equally there are arcs which are really good in both mangas and ones that are not too great but overall i would put them on par with each other. But if u want to look at it from an anime perspective one piece is a 1000x better it does not have fillers for months and barely any at all.
