Why sj don't publish one piece sometimes? ODA still works at the break right?
I guess it has multiple advantages.
1) Security, if any of their mangaka get out of the running for a longer while, they can still publish.
2) Increase the length of the series. If One Piece takes a break 10 times a year, then every 4 years you have basically saved up for an extra year of One Piece. One Piece is their goose with the golden egg, like DBZ was in the 90's. So they want to profit from it as long as they can.
One Piece already has a very big demographic of readers that started reading 15 years ago and are now introducing kids to the show.

It was during a thread about a break a while back. I think it was Love Cook who linked us to something saying Oda still worked, or he said it himself. I can't recall.
Yes that was me, info came from an interview.
