Dayum, what a chapter. Purin seems to have kissed Sanji, which is not something I ever expected to even see implied in One Piece, and Luffy's final clash with Katakuri with both of them falling down at the same time was epic, though given the circumstances its fair to consider it a tie. That final interaction between them was epic, and I loved Luffy leaving his hat behind to cover Katakuri's face. I'd completely forgotten about that hat too.
Honestly, to me, it was a draw. Massive respect to both luffy and katakuri. From the last chapter, is it luffy that deserve more praise for holding his ground against kata (first Commander) or kata for dodging, countering and tanking G4 fastest version? I honestly can't judge who was better only that they were both immensely good. Hopefully kata becomes an ally of the straw hat in the future.
The fight was awesome, Lucciesque ending. Even Dogtooth acknowledged his power. Also Dogtooth basically confirmed that Big Mom is not done in the story she will stay relevant after this arc. I wonder what will happen to the family in the meantime, what will Dogtooth do ?
The heavily guarded mirror scene will be awesome, hopefully we will see some Vinsmoke carnage. And Pekoms luchador is great. Another very loyal big mom subject that has flipped. I wonder what grudge he is holding for Bege though.
I think Sanji got kissed AND his memory altered. Because of the fact that Reiju's memory scene was undone immediately by Sanji makes her power Chekov's gun. There is no point in establishing it in the story without reason only to not come back to it and serve a purpose later on. I don't think Oda would red herring us like that.
So the question is if Pudding erased herself, is she about to do something reckless in the hope Sanji doesn't remember her and interferes ? If that is the case I bet Sanji will remember anyway, and say something along the lines that she might be able to erase his memories but she can't erase his feelings.
Another possibility is that she altered them and give Sanji some of her intel on Big Mom's troops, island lay-out, stratagies etc. Which would make Sanji some kind of super spy.
I kind of love the fact that Luffy was so gassed after this he couldn't even be his dumb self; asking about the time-staying focused, recognizing a character especially in a costume-dud didn't even recognize Sogeking lol but he can i.d pekoms whose name he was getting wrong earlier. That was a good touch I think.

I think she gave him Intel on everyone waiting for luffy's fighting styles and took herself out of his memories. Still really hoping for sanji to throw them good hands next week.
Same way I have been interpreting this entire arc. Honestly said I've always liked BM's plan of spreading her influence by brokering marriages. This is how the Habsburg family ruled Europe for centuries. However BM's idea of a 'family' is a farce. She likes to pretend they're one big, happy family, but in reality she's just a tyrant who terrorizes her children.
It has been shown multiple times that among siblings there's distrust, hate, envy...the only reason why they stay together, is because of BM. It's not immediate loyalty or love that drives them, it's fear and the belief BM can't be beaten. That's how they were raised, they are chained to her. So seeing someone like Luffy, a small part of Dogtooth possibly wants to see Luffy beating BM.
Characters like Pudding and Dogtooth seem to be similar. They both have physical deformities for which they got bullied, but in the end they made their way up the pecking order by virtue of their abilities. They are however aware that if they would fail, they could fall down again. So for them seeing Luffy and his friends doing what they did, probably feels like some kind of liberation.
I'm very skeptical about the possible meaning of numbers. However BM has to go down at one point either way and considering it seems the Strawhats are destined to clash with Kaidou, it's most likely going to be someone else. The moment BM falls, there's nothing in particular tying all her relatives together and I see it happen some might ran off to the Strawhats. Jinbei already joined the Strawhats, Pekoms is half and half an ally, Pudding is smitten by Sanji and the Linlin/Chiffon twins are also on friendly terms with them.
So I wouldn't be surprised that when BM would fall, a branch of her family would place themselves under Luffy.
It's understandable, but things like numbers should be noted. Probably Oda hiding tiny message(s) in them. It can't be a coincidence for such number (888) and Katakuri mocking Luffy. Perhaps I should analyse Katakuri's speech, but this is going to be hilarious. Hilarious as it is hardly to happen that Katakuri will be the 8th in Grand Fleet.
Chapter 888 / page 2
Assumption
"So why have you returned?"
Luffy will return to WCI
"Have you chosen death over the shame of being called a runner?"
Luffy prefers to die rather than running from the Pirate King candidate
"Or have you seen the truth of the difference in our skills"
Katakuri is gonna see different Luffy next time. The Luffy he fought won't be the same Luffy that is gonna fight Big Mom.
"And come to beg me to allow you to join us?"
Katakuri is gonna ask Luffy to join Straw Hat Grand Fleet

Hard to tell if there is any alliance will take down Big Mom other than LuffyxLaw. Hawkins MIA. Booney is roaming New World somewhere.

Um... Lola? Whatever. However, still. Looking so far:
- The mutual respect between Luffy and Katakuri
- Katakuri's flashback and how he lived his life being laughed because of his appearance (his mouth if need to specific)
