For one Luffy didn't even attempt to decently fight back let alone use his strongest weapons available.

We don't even have an indication of how durable Katakuri is, or how he will react to a full on G4 assault so where the fvk is this "omg Luffy won't be able to do sh!t" , "asspull on it's way" ,Katakuri is so strong" bullsh!t coming from when alll he has been doing till now is getting rid of a fighter's lesser arsenal.
Why would Pero tell her to stop? If she sunk the ship he could hide the fact there was never a cake by telling BM she destroyed it but if she came to in order to save the cake she'd realize there was no cake so why would he try to stop her?

Yea.. Cause we didn't witness already that g2 and 3 became irrelevant powerwise. Cause we did not witness already that G4 difference with 2 and 3 is off the charts.

If I got it right, Luffy was only able to best Cracker because he started eating the crackers, not because of G4, not to mention Nami was a huge help in Luffy being able to eat the Crackers, but I know a lot of people like to deny this and act as if Luffy would have beaten Cracker if Nami wasn't there so this doesn't surprise me.
That was when we were first introduced to G4, his new powerup, so obviously it would have made a difference considering we have never seen it, up until he used it against Doffy.
But G4 will definitely help against Katakuri:
Because it completely dominated Cracker in that fight.
Because it was able to knock BM clean out.
G4 has been very successful in this arc thus far.
Alright, here's my opinion regarding what was shown this chapter as well as my view on Luffy's chance at beating Katakuri.
Katakuri's Awakening
It was already safe to assume that Katakuri, arguably being stronger than Doflamingo had access to his DF's awakening. This chapter, to me, seemed to confirm it without actually emphasizing on this. Why? Usually Paramecia seem to function as an extension of one's body and the types that allow to user to create a malleable substance like both Katakuri's fruit as well as Mr. 3's only cover their surroundings and not actually change their properties altogether unless the DF specifically allows for it.

In the page above, Luffy is caught after the ground beneath him seemed to turn into mochi while Katakuri himself was a fair distance away. This follows the trend of Doflamingo's awakening where he turned his surroundings into strings. This leads me to believe that once Luffy gains his awakening it will allow him to turn his surroundings into rubber.. pretty goofy but could allow him to basically turn the ground beneath him into rubber to function as a trampoline of sorts to increase his momentum.
Luffy vs Katakuri
I see a lot of people bringing up the fact that Luffy is screwed and stands no chance whatsoever, but what has really been shown so far? Luffy's gatling and elephant gun got easily copied by Katakuri who overpowered Luffy's versions.. but those same attacks were also ineffective against Doflamingo who in turn stood little chance against Luffy's gear 4th and woulda been beaten a lot faster if if weren't for G4's drawback. But yes, Luffy's gear 4th didn't allow him to beat cracker without Nami's help and didn't seem to faze Big Mom at all.. well, for the latter it shouldn't be a surprise since she would be way above any of her children in terms of strength. As for Cracker, his DF emphasized on solid defenses.. a bad match up for someone who relies on physical strength wouldn't you think? So, Luffy's gear 4th shouldn't be entirely useless but will it be enough? I think not.. he will have to adapt and come up with new ways to fight but as we've been shown throughout the series Luffy is quite the genius when it comes to adapting in battle.
P.S. So far in their fight Luffy wasn't able to wholly concentrate on fighting since the others were trying to get to his crew. Especially during this chapter where Luffy seemed to do all he could to keep the BM pirates from noticing that he was communicating with his crew after they believed they had drowned. So yeah, he basically crushed a mirror inside of his mouth >.> ouch...
We need some progression soon next chapter cake better be done sanji escape with crew and lluffy fight better last or start big Mom needs to be gone and yes I can't wait for the break

Nah there's no Godzilla gun. If anything he needs water to beat him like crocodile. He needs Nami again should've brought her along. So Jimbes fishman come and save the day
