Luffy's not getting a G5 this early. If anything, he probably has another side to his G4 or maybe he can stay in it longer and use King Kong Gun, but even that is bullshit. I don't see Luffy winning this honestly.

Also, shoutout to Pedro for his Kamikaze that actually worked waaay better than I was expecting. He did the most damage possible that didn't outright kill or incapacite Perospero. ...yeah, that's pretty shite wording. Obviously, Perospero wasn't going to just die. That'd be too easy. He's still able to fight, but he's missing his almost his entire right arm. But Luffy versus Big Mom's de facto second in command... *inhales sharply*
Can we start placing bets on what Luffy's going to do to beat Katakuri?

I agree with you entirely EXCEPT about Luffy winning. This ain't me playing favorites, but keep in mind he is THE main character. He's already suffered his mandatory losses this arc, what with him getting captured after he got outnumbered and overrun, as well as the failed assassination attempt. It's the Rule of Three, which is everywhere in One Piece's history. Also, he's got no plan, no back-up, no escape route, no failsafe. If he were to lose this fight, Katakuri's not the type of person who would take him back alive. I feel he's pragmatic enough to just execute Luffy right then and there, unless Big Mom explicitly ordered him to take Luffy alive. However, that's irrelevant either way, because Big Mom's nowhere close to the state of mind where she'd be giving orders like that.
As for G4, you're not wrong, but not quite right. I mean, yeah, it's an asspull when he shows off a new move, it's bullshit when he suddenly can stay in Gear 4 for a day continuously fighting, but that doesn't stop him from doing it. He's already shown he can, when he fought Cracker. I just want to point out that the Tankman that he used then was called "Full Version". He can't use it whenever he wants, because he has to be fat to use it, so I'd imagine we get to see regular Tankman now, or a new Boundman technique.

This chapter was wow. So Luffy has done what in the past Roger and Ace did ; letting his crew escape to face the danger himself. He has definitely inherited their will this confirms it.
Prediction time now:
Fair enough Luffy will fight with Katakuri as he has full decided to do so however he will inevitably lose. Think about it, even IF he wins he has no true way of escaping big moms territory and frankly lets face it Luffys not good with navigation.
Oh but wait, who else is left behind in big moms territory? Sanji!
So this is how it will play out i reckon.
- Sanji will make the cake with Chiffon and Pudding.
- On the way to Big Mom, sanji'll find out that Luffy's been defeated and the crew has gone as such he'll strike a deal with Big Mom.
- Yummy Wedding cake for Luffy and a safe escape like Pedro got in the past
- As we have all seen how adamant Big mom is to have her wedding cake...i reckon she'll be like "yeah yeah just give me the cakee"
- Thats how Luffy and Sanji leave big moms clutches.
Now how they end on zou, either they are escorted or somehow the Germa gives them a ride Idk.
